They Say Money Is A Cruel Mistress, What Do You Think?

Was on TikTok today and I saw a video where a lady called money a cruel mistress that leaves you if you don’t pay attention to it. She said that if you constantly watch your money, record your expenses, your inflow and outflows, try to monitor how you are making and spending money, you will not be broke any more. Pay attention to it and don’t spend money foolishly, always look at your money, this will let your money know that you value it and want to stay. But the moment you don’t pay attention to your money, you don’t watch it, you don’t know how it’s going in or going out, then it’s going to leave you.

For the past 3 years I have been constantly watching my crypto portfolio and in my own opinion the value has been reducing, it’s not been increasing, been paying attention to all my expenses but sadly, the crypto market has been on a huge down trend for a long time. I wish I invested more on stable coins but I am saying this now because the crypto market went contrary to what we expected. On the other hand, I have seen people who didn’t pay attention to money, they spend recklessly, they don’t keep account of their finances, but still manage to achieve a lot in life and they are proud of theirselves.

Lots of people have different definition and views of what money is, some people believe that hoarding money makes it feel like it’s in captivity, so it won’t come to you. To let more money come to you, you need to let it go and spend it, so hearing some one call money a cruel mistress today is a first. What do you think?

I think there needs to be some form of balance between the two, control your finances but also leave some room to spend or do something that's a bit outside the norm with your money. For me, money is mostly a resource that's used to acquire other resources :)
