Winter is more comfortable here in Bangladesh than summer. Because of that, we wait until the whole year to plan our winter tours and travels. Moreover, nature looks a lot different and enjoyable during the winter. The fog along with the greenery and river makes a mysterious environment.
Last weekend, I went to Panchagarh - the northeast district of Bangladesh to see the peak of the Himalayas that becomes visible only this time of the year. Unfortunately because of the bad weather, we couldn't see that but we had a tour around the district.
Let me share my day tour.
This was the place we were staying in. It's a guest of a local NGO called BRAC. It's not an open place for all but fortunately, we had someone that we knew arrange our stay. It was not much the view from the window, in the middle of nowhere made it perfect.
This was the view from our window. I wouldn't lie, it was a bit scary on a good day during the night. The foxes made echos but we didn't mind because of the raw experience. But during the early morning, the birds were chirping, it was foggy and made a beautiful day for us.
We went to the Korotoya View Point at the morning to see if we could have a look at the peak of the mountain. But as I was saying, it was not possible because of the foggy weather. There were many tourists like us.
To be honest, we kind of knew that was about to happen so we planned our day. So instead of being disappointed for the whole day, we went around the whole district.
We had some light snacks and a cup of tea beside the river. The day may not started well but it was not bad after all.
We visited the District Office, not for any work but to see the place.
Then headed to the local primary school and the mosque to see around the whole district.
We later headed to the Bangladesh- India border area. It's a tourist place too because there are some duty-free shops where the tourists can buy things at a good price.
Lastly, we went to Panchagarh Tea Garden, I will share the photos in another post. Stay connected.
The day went well, we had fun and it was adventurous to see around a new place no matter how nice or non-significant it was.
I wouldn't claim, it's a place people from abroad should visit. But for locals, this district is something where they could escape from the city life and enjoy a day there. Also, if you are fortunate you can see the beautiful peak of the mountain.
I wish I could have had that experience. But there's always a next time, no?
