Living the biannual car service dream in the local Hyundai centre...

in #inleo2 months ago

Nothing quite says 'life admin chore' like taking a morning out to get yer car serviced, and in my case that only has to be done once every two years.

So I took a drive down to the local Hyundai dealer on Wednesday to do just that: get my car serviced, for the first time in two whole years!

I opted to just sit-in while they did said service, I couldn't be arsed with a replacement car for the day and another 40 minute round trip when with a lap top I can just sit there for 90 minutes and work, or play, which is what I did.

A change is as good as a rest!

I was VERY surprised when the results came back - EVERYTHING FINE, even my two rear tyres are only 60% worn, I was expecting to have to get those replaced there and then after putting 13K miles on since the last MOT...

But looks like I can probably get a few thousand more miles out them, good until Jan probably.

I also asked about the battery and whether 9 years is old, and the guy at the desk said no, which I'm guessing is the truth, as usually these guys want to sell you stuff, but he didn't seem to think a 9 year old car battery was particularly old these days. I have no trouble with it, so I'll go with that!

And it's always nice to see this:

Although I think I may move to annual services now the car is getting on a bit. I had a service plan option mailed to me after - for three years with the MOTs, it's £800, which is basically the same price as two core and one major service and then the MOTs too, which is pretty much what I want anyways, so I may as well just go for that and pay in instalments.

Oh man, I love these basic life chores days, I MUST be getting old! Or perhaps it's just the day off work, oh yeah, that'll be it!

Chores are relaxing, they're kind of time out!

I know what you mean I feel pretty chill RN@

Your car is holding up well and yes having a service plan does make life a lot easier.

Yes actually must remember to do that this weekend!

Cars will eat money, but that doesn't sound too bad. On an older car they are likely to find something wearing out. It helps if you can trust them to not rip you off.

It's with the original dealer so they're pretty trustworthy!
