Released from full time work....!

Well not quite yet, but earlier than anticipated, and my overwhelming, no.1 feeling = one of relief!

I had been told last week that there might be the budget at the MP's office to keep me on for another three months after the end of March, and I immediately said yes, one doesn't turn down work, but at the same time with a sad feeling of resignation to just work, work, work.

That's been the theme of 2025 so far TBH, just WORK, WORK, WORK! I've honetly got little else to report on the year!

Hence when yesterday I was told there is no money to keep me on beyond March, I actually felt relief, albeit tinged with a little sadness, I do quite like the job I do, or at least somewhere between 60-70% of it is just easy tedium, 30-40% is interesting, and I had just that morning been working on something actually quite juicy and I will miss that, not that it would go anywhere necessarily, but whatever!

So from April I'll be back down to working 2.5 days a week, which is honestly so much better than 5 days, I'm only contracted for 4.5 but I've been working a full 5 days just because it's easier to keep up with work load, I am paid for the overtime, or I can take it off laters (we work a TOIL system).

But it has been grim living life on the margins of the workaday.

I'm looking forward to getting back to having a couple of days fully to myself, I REALLY need to do some work on the main blog.

The timing of this couldn't actually be better, March-June are good earning times for my mainn job, so I'm flush until July, my other part-time job ends end of May, so I've got a few months to find something else.

I do need 3-4 days a week, 2.5 days isn't enough, but I can survive for a couple months no problemo.

I mean OK I've got 7 weeks of full time work left, well actually 5 if I factor in some holiday time, maybe even more like 4 if I work it cleverly.

I know it's bizarre, but I literally pasted the text into GPT and asked it to produce an image, this was the response, third attempt!

And how best to use my two months of a free 2.5 days...

There's two work related things...

  1. Sort my main blog out, it needs some serious SEO work, starting with some analysis of what changes I've made to what pages have yielded what results. And lots of other stuff.
  2. Actually settling on what job I want next and doing something to build towards that, it'll be something advisory/ social policy related - so I need to pick a little specialism... defo NOT benefits, possibly housing or consumer-rights related, focussing on energy.

I'm certainly not gonna be idle in those two days, that's for sure.

And as usual I shall be looking to get ahead, starting NOW! This post is just a thinky one to plan my productive Saturday!

'A thinky one'...I like that. Also the GPT image fits the story perfectly. Sounds like you got things worked out pretty good. I'm sorry or congrats, hmm..I offer both 😂

Cheers, more positive I think!

Most things have an ending, but also those opened new beginnings and opportunities. I always complain that my job keeps me away from crypto and probably that's true, but in the same time it offers financial balance. We all need to find our own rhythm and I am sure you'll find yours, good luck!

That's good mate. Work work to where :)

Congrats on gaining more you time! You need you 😎🍓

You said it, cheers! Not quite done with the grind yet but getting there!

Glad to see this and congratulations.

More "me" time is invaluable! And gpt seems to have grasped the text idea perfectly ;) !BEER
