The genus Cucurbita is a group of plants that includes various types of squash, pumpkin, and chayote. These plants are part of the Cucurbitaceae family, which also includes cucumbers and melons. Genus Cucurbita plants are grown for their edible fruit and are popular in many cuisines throughout in Indonesia today.
One of the most famous members of the Cucurbita Genus is the pumpkin. Pumpkins are large, round fruits that are usually orange in color and have thick, tough skin. They are often used in pies, soups, and as a garnish during the fall season.
Winter squash, such as butternut squash and acorn squash, are also part of the Cucurbita Genus. They have a sweeter taste than summer squash and are often roasted or pureed for soups and stews. Winter squash is rich in vitamins A and C, as well as fiber and antioxidants, making it a healthy addition to any meal.
