Music of The Heart

"One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain." - Bob Marley

Or, it can do the total opposite, and instill so much emotion and hurt inside of you, that you feel a certain level of pain that you've never felt before.

The music, even though painful, you just can't get enough of it, the lyrics, traumatic, memory-evoking, but you choose to take the hurt and keep listening anyway. Never-ending tears from your eyes, tears just keep falling and falling, to a point where you question how and for what reason such tears are being shed...

It can be tears of love, loss, regret, or even self-hatred. The thing is, music has the power to heal, but also to briefly destroy and dismantle. It just depends on the person and what song they're listening to. Now, whether it's love, like, hate, or loss, when the music and lyrics hit, the emotions that come with, it all come from the heart.

Music is so much deeper than what most of us see or understand. It's an art form that you don't see, it's one that you can only feel. And music is truly appreciated only when it's felt. A music video can have the biggest production budget and the biggest stars involved, but if the music isn't able to connect with the listeners, then it's just an average song and video; it's not art.

Throughout my life music has made me feel so many ways, I can't even explain it, nor put a number on the different experiences. Joy, energy, empathy, sorrow, love, loss, there's one song for every moment and feeling. Some enjoy with company of darkness in solitude, some amid energetic daylight, and a few in hardcore environments like the gym, a party, or a gathering.

Whether I'm moving and grooving, shedding a tear of joy or sorrow, it is all cherished. Because sorrow came after loss, but loss came because I had something to lose in the first place. Yes, I couldn't hold onto it, and I wish I could, but destiny had its plans. Soon after came joy, right after sorrow, that is why joy was cherished and nurtured, and hopefully will be remembered for as long as I live and breathe. All the moving and grooving came, thanks to those who made every moment spent with them memorable. Moments, and friendships, that we once thought were indestructible; a bond and its remembrance, that are now a thing of the past.

7 years old has always been a favorite. It's a song that I can relate to because of the guidance and advice that my parents once used to give me. The lessons I learned, are the ones that I hope to one day to share with my children.

Shadow on the Sun is actually a new discovery. Surprisingly, I found it in a place I least expected it, in a movie called Collateral, starring Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx. I've been wanting to watch this movie for quite a few years actually. But, I never really made the time nor the effort to watch it. However, now I'm glad that I decided to watch it. Because not only was it a good movie, but it also gave a good song to listen to.

Saiyaan by Kailash Kher is a classic. My generation and those a bit older absolutely love it. Anyone who loves music will appreciate such a song. The one line that gets me the most, and many others will relate, is when he says "Tu Jo Chhoo Le Pyar Se, Aaraam Se Mar Jaaun" meaning "Whenever you touch me with love, I endure a peaceful death". Well, that's my rough translation of it at least haha.

Well, that's my playlist of the week, consisting of the songs that I've listened to and felt the most.
