O Album is the debut studio album by Irish musician Damien Rice, originally released in Ireland and the United Kingdom on 1 February 2002. The album is dedicated to Rice's friend Mic Christopher, who died from a head injury in 2001.
The album's release story is also very interesting. Damien Rice's cousin and composer David Arnold was very impressed when he heard Rice's songs, and sent Rice's demo to music publishers, but none of them wanted to make a deal. David Arnold had no intention of giving up because he believed the songs would be successful and he and Damien Rice decided to produce the album independently in a home studio and worked together. Damien Rice decided to release the album without the backing of a major label, and in 2003 he obtained distribution support for global release from Vector Records, then a newly established record label focusing on independent artists. The O Album was released to critics and the public in 2003, acclaim in Europe and then globally. It peaked at number 8 on the UK Albums Chart lasting 115 weeks, and also had two singles in the top 30. Source

While I had fun at the beginning of the story, I felt very sad at the end of the song. Frankly, when I learn the story of a song, I become more attached to that song. Cheers Darlin' is one of those great songs that touched me a lot with its story.
