I was the happiest yesterday because I got to the church with my oldies and Mama. It's the four of us, Mama, Mommy F, Mommy D, and me. It's the start of Simbang Gabi yesterday with the two schedules to follow. We can go attend the Simbang Gabi starting from 15th to 23rd of December at 6 pm and from 16 to 24 at 4 am. We chose to go at 6 pm because attending at 4 am is kinda bad for us, we can't for sure, give our 100 percent focus if we are too sleepy to listen to the sermon. So how about you?
So anyway, we prepared early for that day. We had our early dinner too because mass can take an hour and a half, so it's better that we're full. I already take a bath in the afternoon, so I just changed myself to a shirt and pants when it's finally time to go to church. We just walk, of course, because it's really just close. We had nice weather yesterday - no rain or whatsoever. It's like this day was given to us so that we can attend the first Simbang Gabi without a problem.
Here they are. Mommy D is walking faster than us because she's afraid there's no available chair if we arrived late. And that's bad if ever, but Mommy F can't really walk faster. It's already 5:33 we know there's still time, but people might have arrived earlier than us, so we had to hurry. As for me, I'm just documenting that moment. It's rare for us to go visit the church together, especially with Mama. So I want a copy of this very moment with my three mom. Hehe
And we finally arrived at the church! It's so amazing to see the church being adorned with Christmas decorations. You can already feel Christmas just from entering the gate. I can also see people entering the gate before us. I saw bunch of teens too.
Beautiful! By the way, I am actually hesitant to attend the night mass because of my cough. I am afraid that I might cough nonstop at the church, and that would be embarrassing, especially since church is a sacred place and it would be rude to make a noise inside even if it's not intentional. Still, I can't help but worry. But fortunately, that didn't happen. Gargling water with a pinch of salt helps, I think.
So, exactly at 6, the mass started. There's a lot of people who attended the night mass. Even the priest is so happy with it. I'm sure some people who attended that time attended the mass at 4 am too. There are some people who do that too. Those who do it yearly, as their promise, maybe.
After an hour and a half, the mass ended, and the joy was written on everyone's face. Even me and my family. We are really just happy in that very moment. Later tonight, we'll attend again the second Simbang Gabi. We're not sure if we can complete the nine Simbang Gabi, but hopefully we do. I can't really remember the last time I completed the Simbang Gabi, to be honest. I'm sure there are some Pilipino here who never missed the Simbang Gabi every year. Are you one of them perhaps?
