NFT Citizens much like you and me are uniquely and consistently working towards a greater future and unique timely demise.
Citizens enter the game as Young Citizens then become Students before going into debt and or becoming older.
Each one of these transitions happens passively and alters the stats of the citizen.
This time span for the lifecycle of citizens has been recently commented on by the developer of @dcitygame @gerber in the dcity https://discord.gg/SD9zTkkK
3-4 years lifecycle gives citizens about 1000-1350 days.
Young Citizens, Students and Student(old) receive a tax refund allowing you to begin a measurable ROI.
When Student(debt) occurs, you will need to pay 300 SIM+ to remove the negative stat on Tax Refund.
Student debt cost does increase over time, so it is always better to pay off debt immediately and train your Students into their new profession/title.
What is the best profession/title?
The most valuable citizen that you can mint through training by far is going to be the Tax Collector.
Tax Collector is a limited NFT with a 100 mint cap and has a special effect that provides a stackable Tax Reduction
Students can become many different professions/titles that do not have Tax Refund including: Worker, Homeless, Artist, Scientist, etc.
These citizens have uses that you may want to take advantage of in some combine recipes but you can also experiment on and potentially mint a super citizen but you will most likely end up with a sick citizen that has a variable tax refund.
The value of Worker is really high right now compared to Workers which offers 2 population for only 700 SIM.
Worker is being used in a really high value combine and this has caused a high demand for this citizen.
Market Value Experiment
For the purpose of this post, I purchased 5 of the above Student(debt)(old) for 1198 SIM and paid the 300 SIM to pay off the debt and finish their training and job placement.
5 students = 1500 SIM student debt cost the screenshot wouldnt upload for some reason.
total cost = 7490 SIM for these 5 citizens all of which give tax refund.
Eco Activist, Soldier and Teacher allow you to ROI faster with a higher Tax Refund or access to War Shares on the Soldier.
Economist is what I would consider the perfect beginner citizen since it allows you to rank the leaderboard with only 2 NFTs at this moment in time.
Priest is a citizen to look out for as the FAITH system is still being developed and we are all looking forward to seeing this citizen receive greater utility.
Eco Activist Bid: 1002 Ask: 1782 Last: 1000

Citizen Bid Value: 3279 SIM
Citizen Ask Value: 8359 SIM
These citizens generate an income by themselves equal to 7.1 SIM per day.
To sell these at the Bid value would make this experiment a loss unless they were held until the difference of 7490 SIM - 3279 SIM = 4211 SIM /7.1 = 593 days or if the market value increased from the demand of a new combine.
To sell these at the Ask value would technically generate a profit but there are still 5% marketplace fees so it will be better to hold and generate some excess profit off these citizens before allowing them to join the market and work for someone else.
In 593 days, I would be able to bring in a profit of 4211 SIM plus the marketplace Ask value 8359 SIM or whatever the markets are at during that time.
Theoretically holding onto these citizens for the entire lifecycle would generate about 800-1000 more days times 7.1 = 5680-7100 SIM before their lifecycle came to an end.
The best utilization of citizens is to max their lifecycle into a combine that offers tax refund or other benefits.
Obviously using older citizens is the most optimal but its user choice.

The technology minting process has been changed to require the Research Base card so getting all the citizens, buildings and tech cards ready may be super beneficial!
