Marking the commencement of our wedding rituals, and setting up the vibrant energy.
Today is the wedding ceremony of daughter of our neighbor, and the pre-wedding rituals of Mangalakrutya and Haldi Ceremony was performed yesterday in which she took part. This is the first time, she took part in a Haldi Ceremony, which is performed to prevent evil spirits from harming the newly wed couple. And this ritual is held at the parents' home of the bride. Turmeric is not only good for health, but it's bright yellow color is believed to be highly auspicious. In old times, it was a simple ceremony, in which seven married women from our caste would join together and give the bride a turmeric water bathe. And this ritual is even practiced in thread ceremony as well. In recent times, this has become a big celebration, to capture some memorable moments, in which, the bride is adorned with turmeric paste by close family members and friends. And the vibrant color of turmeric bringing yellow vibes to the entire ambience sets the mode for happy times.
In the morning, Dian Mangula or Mangalakrutya was performed first, with ladies going to the nearest temple seeking the blessings from the goddess.
And then the Haldi Ceremony was done before noon, for which the stage was set nicely.

Brother and sister - A proud brother, giving all his effort to make her sister happy.
Parents making sure she enjoys every moment of these rituals before departing to another home. Often the Mom breaks down emotionally as it's the time to say goodbye to the daughter to build her own home, but unlike old times, it's some great moments, that we should enjoy and celebrate instead.
The father is always a role model for the girl child, with whom, she finds all the comfort, security, confidence and this was no exception - she likes Dad the most.
And to match to the celebration, most were in yellow attire , it not only matches to the occasion, but also helps to avoid the turmeric color getting applied to the dress.
Coming back, we captured few clicks in our society.
And any celebration is incomplete without some nice food, so a lovely lunch was on menu.
The kid was studying at home as his exams are starting tomorrow and joined us for the lunch.
Our daughter missed this ritual as she was having the Unwind Function at school, their mega annual event, for which I dropped her at the school in the morning. Usually we also go to Unwind Function and enjoy the day there, but since we had to attend this ritual, we skipped this time, promising to join her in the evening. More to come on that....
