Student led cultural fest
Unwind is the mega annual function in kid's school and it boosts the teamwork, innovation and early entrepreneurship skills in these kids, by involving them in each activity of this mega function. The higher class students lead the initiative, and several groups are formed to create the blueprint of the program months before. They are actively guided as well as monitored by the teachers, administrators and even the schools seeks help from business professionals. And the lower class kids are delegated tasks, and that brings in a lot of confidence in them. That's what always happens, isn't it ? When you are a kid and given a responsibility which you can showcase, you proudly take that challenge and try to finish before. So these kids were working on several small taks, like creating paintings, bookmarks, drawings, etc. And finally when the day arrived, she was all set to join from the morning, wearing the brand t-shirt of the event.
I was a bit reluctant to drop her so early as the function was for entire day, but when I reached there, realized the enthusiasm of these kids and felt why she was so eager.
The theme was set nicely at the entrance, and the school shared an invitation card with us, which was a must to carry to enter the school premise because the event is highly hyped among kids of other schools and even old students, so they want to restrict the entry to only their present students and their immediate family members.
Usually we go and spend the day there, as the entire day is programmed with several cultural festivals along with hundred of stalls made by the students as well as businesses. But since we had to attend the Pre-wedding rituals of our neighbor, she was allowed to go alone with a promise to we joining her in the evening. She took some money from home to buy food, and this time we guided her to carry a bag, keeping the purse inside, as she lost money last year. Kids need to learn these safety practices to independently handle the finance. And the school does not allow mobile phone inside, so it was a cash affair. Not allowing mobile to these kids is a good practice, because they can lose them causing stress for them as well as parents. They have teachers and guides at every place, to contact us, in case of any need - so we were assured about the safety. Managing five to seven thousand kids at such a big fest, and making sure no unfortunate incident happens is a big task itself, but kudos to the school management for planning and executing such a big event peacefully. Their preparation started more than a month, with the lunch event taking place on October 26, 2024, with electrifying unveiling of the mascot, Jack Sparrow.
The stage was ready for the melody in the evening, the final cultural program to wind up.
When we reached in the evening, the stage was on fire, and kids were nostalgic, enjoying every tune presented by the crew. To just give you an idea, here is a video compilation of few small clips I recorded, the program went on for more than two hours and the kids were not willing to leave the place before it was wrapped up.
So we had no choice other than waiting for them and it was good to see you our old friends joining us. Their kids are on the final year of secondary school, so this would be last Unwind for them.
When the boy was in school, we used to meet every day in the morning for a tea party.
Few more clips from the evening to give you the magnitude of the event. The school did a nice job of segregating separate space for girls and boys.
Finally the exhausted little girl was ready to come home, bringing some snacks for us, before coming to us. The school declared the next day off to give these kids some rest.
