Today I would like to share one of my recent fun battles against a very strong team that I don't see very often in Modern. The opponent put together Grimbardun Smith, Olivia of the Brook and Inevitable. Additionally they used Aves Sturgis to give magic damage to Grimbardun Smith and Albahoo Forester.
They have double triage, armor repair and Grimbardun Smith and Inevitable that are really hard to get through with those and additionally we have Born again ruleset in effect so I would have to get through those twice!
Take a look at the battle and see how it went:

Ruleset
Here we have a triple ruleset of: Silenced Summoners, Born Again and Heavy Metal. We also have forty six mana available with Fire, Life, Death and Dragon splinters available.
When I see silenced summoners my first go to summoner is Quix the Devious. The reason for it is that it is my lowest mana Dragon summoner. It is important to use a Dragon summoner is because in the silenced summoners situation the only benefit a summoner gives is ability to use an extra set of monsters from the Dragon Splinter in addition to the splinter I choose.
With forty six mana being on the high side of mana I chose Death splinter because it has Usut that has Blood Lust ability as well as the self heal ability and it does magic damage which is important for the Heavy Metal ruleset as we are guaranteed to have only armored monsters on the field.
The Strategy
In addition to pieces of my strategy mentioned in the Ruleset section above, a key of my strategy was to use Chaos Dragon that deals four magic damage with scattershot and blast. This is particularly important in a ruleset with lots of armor.
Upfront I chose Djinn Chwala as my tank as it has lots of armor and enrage ability in addition to thorns and cannot miss due to the True Strike ability. While it is one of the original Chaos Legion reward cards that was heavily overprinted and is really cheap for an epic card, this is a very formidable tank that can do some major damage!
In the second position I put a reach monster with a stun ability. Stun is very important as it can stop a self healing tank on the opponent's side not only from healing itself but also from attacking.
In the third position I put another epic Chaos Legion reward card: Uraeus. This three mana monster has sneak and poison abilities which are perfect for the armored up ruleset.
In fourth position I put Chaos Dragon to give Usut a bit more chance to score a few kills to activate his bloodlust ability.
In fifth position I have Usut and finally last but not least I have a new Rebellion reward card that I have not fully maxed out yet, but I do have it at level nine. This is an opportunity attacker: Broken Earth Thug.
All together I think this is a really good team for this ruleset, but let's see how it will turn out!
The Battle
As you can see my opponent put together a very resilient team. Up front there is Inevitable that is hard to get through and in the back they have another really hard to get through monster: Grimbardun Smith that is being healed by double triage. And in the middle they have Olivia of the Brook that has a new Mimic ability that collects abilities from my team and since she is likely to stay around for a while it could be come really hard to deal with.
In the first round our Chaos Dragon did a pretty good job and took out their weapons training monster, but unfortunately they also took out our front tank. Both came back to life due to the Born Again ruleset:
In the second round our Chaos Dragon managed to take out their weapons training monster, but unfortunately they took out our main tank:
Third round was pretty brutal for us as we lost our Uraeus and reach monster and lost some health on our Chaos Dragon, but we did manage to take out their main tank and our Usut scored his first kill triggering Bloodlust ability that bumped his stats by one!
In fourth round we lost or Chaos Dragon, but Usut did manage to take out another enemy and now his stats stand at +2 and he is well positioned to score another kill in round five. Also their Olivia of the Brook has not been very lucky picking up extra abilities from our team so far...
In round five Usut scored another kill, but his health is getting pretty low. Olivia of the Brook on their team finally picked up a really good ability from our Usut, but I think it is too little to late. Usut is now up to a speed of four and has six magic damage, he should be able to heal himself and take her out before she has a chance to strike or heal.
In round six we disposed of Olivia of the Book as I have predicted and we seem to be in a good place to win this battle with the help of our overpowered Usut. He should heal himself before anyone strikes him and take out Albahoo Forester triggering another Bloodlust.
As predicted Usut took out Albahoo Forester at the start of the round and here at the start of round eight it looks like our victory is practically guaranteed!
At the start of round nine their team is down to only one monster: Grimbardun Smith! It might take a little while but this is now a guaranteed victory!
And finally in round ten we score an important victory over Shadowch4ser securing 1,662 Glint and 13.536 SPS. What a fun battle!
