Our Girl Scout School Encampment 2024

Hello and howdy my dear friends. How are you today? Another week to explore and to share with you my latest stories. I hope you are doing well despite the different challenges we encountered.

Life is busy lately. I had to do a lot of school chores and activities. Sometimes, we spent our weekends doing school activities thinking this would greatly benefit our dear learners.

One of the busy weeks we had was conducting the School Encampment for the Girl Scouts of the Philippines 2024. It was conducted last November 16 and 17, 2024 but for the settling of students, we had it on the Friday afternoon of November 15, 2024.

The week before the event, every GSP member was busy preparing for the tent and bringing the necessary materials to make the tent bigger and stronger. Our school was located in a mountainous area. It was surrounded with limestone which is why we were having difficulties in digging the whole. We used digging tools but it's not enough to dig it easily.

The Different Camp Groups Tent

With the help of the students, teachers, and even Boy Scouts, the tents were ready for our activity. We used bamboo poles, coconut leaves, and Anahaw leaves for decorations. Though we had time constraints because we needed to do it after class hours, we came up with aesthetic and cute designs for our little tents.

On December 15, 2024, Friday night, were the settling of the girls and preparation for the next days to come. Girl Scout adults were also present in school and slept with the senior scouts to watch them over during the night. It was fun and exciting. The girls were grouped with their adults for the different tasks undertaken. The Senior scouts were happy and excited to take the task seriously.

On the first day of the activity, October 16, 2024, the senior scouts were ready to take off for the parade as early as 7:00 a.m. Though the sky was gloomy, the scouts got up early to complete the different tasks.

After the parade, the senior scouts and the adult teachers make themselves fit and healthy by participating in the Zumba Dance. Everyone was energized and ready for the activity!

One of the activities that the senior scouts underwent was bandaging. With the help of the DRRM Team in our municipality, the activity was well taken care of. They were given tasks on how to save others in an emergency. They were further discussed regarding the importance of CPR and first-aid help that would save the lives of everyone. It was a fulfilling activity that the senior scouts were given knowledge about.

Another task given to the senior scouts was the cooking contest. They were tasked to create their recipe of "pinakbet" or stewed sliced vegetables. They were very eager to participate. Every group has three members who will cook the stewed vegetables. Even if the rain pours hard because of unexpected heavy rainfall, the seniors never fail to present their output creatively.

Due to the typhoon and heavy rains experienced in the late afternoon of Day 1, we need to move the activities ahead. Instead of having the campfire at 8:00 in the evening, we had to move it to an earlier time so that the seniors could go home earlier. We had the campfire activity at 3:00 in the afternoon inside our school gymnasium. There were presentations from the different teams and the community singing by the Girl Scouts. Afterward, there were awards granted to individual and group tasks completed.

Though bombarded by the unexpected weather disturbance, the activity went well, and the scouts were very happy learning the different tasks performed and went home with happy faces. The bonding, the camaraderie, the teamwork, and the unforgettable moments shared will never be forgotten. In life, we need to find ways to learn and create bonding with one another because we don't only live for ourselves but for others too. Life is meaningful when we create bonds and share unforgettable memories.

That's all for today's blog. I hope you enjoy reading my blog. Life is wonderful if celebrate it with the people we truly love and understand us.

Have a nice day everyone 😊
