Beep Beep Beep. That's the sound you may hear when videos censor the swearing. Does that mean swearing is not okay? Personally, I think it depends on the situation. In a casual setting with friends that are comfortable, I don't think swearing is an issue. I swear online and with friends in real life and I never had any issue because it's a bit normalized now saying "wtf" or "fu" when joking around or playing around with my friends. On the other hand though, in a business setting it is not unprofessional so I wouldn't go swearing at work or at customers. That would give a bad look on myself and the company.
I went for shabu shabu recently with two friends that are way more outgoing than me. There's always swear words now and then in the conversation but it's not in a bad way.
That's not all though. We also have to look at where we are. When I say this, I'm talking about the country. Malaysia is a Muslim country and swearing is inappropriate and discouraged in those that believe in Islam. Due to this reason if I was around any Muslims, I would avoid swearing out of respect for their religion. Malaysia is super strict to the point that movies censor most to all of any swearing in a movie. They don't have the beep sound instead it's just silent. I honestly don't like the censoring in movies because I'm used to listening to the swear words since I used to live in California. It is what it is though.
If it wasn't clear, I'm ok with swearing but there are times where it shouldn't be used which I have shared in this post. What about you? What are your thoughts on swearing?
