I bring to you once again The Excelsior Collection, Inc, and this is part of The Saga of Treasure Ships and Pirates, the 1987 23-Karat Gilded Banknote collection from Antigua & Barbuda.
Antigua & Barbuda 23-Karat Gilded Bank Note: Captain Thomas Cocklyn and the Bird Galley
The immense detail in Captain Thomas Cocklyn and the Bird Galley, caught my attention. Like every other banknote I own, this one is made of 999 pure silver with a 23-karat gold background that shimmers. This collection is so remarkable because of the details.
The front of the banknote and details
Thomas Cocklyn, an English pirate, was well-known for his alliances with Howell Davis and, subsequently, Olivier Levasseur. After leaving the pirate refuge of Nassau on the island of New Providence in the British-controlled Bahamas, he was chosen as captain in 1717. His early years and most of his adventures are poorly documented.
Together with Davis and La Buse, Cocklyn and his men are known to have assisted in the seizure of the British slave ship Bird Galley at the mouth of the Sierra Leone River on April 1, 1719.
The Bird Galley became the pirate Thomas Cocklyn's flagship and he renamed her the Windham Galley.

These are three of the five First Gold and Silver Bank Notes I have featured:
This collector album incorporate 30 different banknotes and folio. The stunning collection of artwork that depicts each pirate ship minted on each banknote was commissioned by none other than Alan D'Estrehan, one of the world's foremost marine artists at the time of issue. The captivating stories that accompany each piece of gold & silver artwork were penned by Canadian historian and author, Christopher Moore. Each detailed banknote is struck in solid Pure 23k gold and.999 silver and comes in the official blue leatherette binder and slipcase.
