Hello hivers, an happy Monday to you all!
During these hot days of July, me and my hubby @paolobeneforti started to do our usual daily walk along the side of the river close to my home after the dinner, when the air is cool enough to enjoy to stay out of home. We use to see a lot of ducks there and also different kind of herons, included, since some days, a black-crowned night-heron (Nycticorax nycticorax). You can read more about this kind of heron here. ❤️
At know I have no pics took by me about the Nycticorax because it looks like a little shy, but I couldn't resist to paint it in my own illustrative style and so I did it.
This morning I woke up soon to work on the portrait of the Nycticorax during the first, quiet hours of the day and, in the following pics, you can see the final result:
As you can see, my imagination worked on a Nycticorax heron with a large belly and, instead the long white plumes on the back of the head I painted a sort of delicate branch with leaves.
It's a mixed media (acrylic colors, oil colors and white ink) painting on 200 gsm paper in A4 size and, as usual, I took some pics while I was painted this funny bird so you can see the process too:
