One afternoon, I got a message from my sister saying that a little kitten had appeared in her office and she had brought her home. She would keep her there for a couple of days until she could take her to a pet food store where they put them up for adoption.
Una tarde, recibí un mensaje de mi hermana diciendo que había aparecido una pequeña gatita en su oficina y la había traído a la casa. La tendría allí un par de días hasta que pudiera llevarla a una tienda de alimentos para mascotas donde los daban en adopción.
At that time I was living and working in another city, but I went almost every weekend to my sister's, and I told her that I wanted to see the kitten, to wait for me, and she said ok.
En esa época yo vivía y trabajaba en otra ciudad, pero iba casi todos los fines de semana donde mi hermana, y le dije que quería ver a la gatita, que me esperara, y ella respondió que ok.
When I arrived home my sister wasn't there, she had not left work yet. I opened the door and after a while the kitten appeared meowing, she was very small and tender. I went to see Linda, the cat we had, and then I went back to the living room, where I found the little one pooping in a corner, on the floor 😡, hahaha. That was my first encounter with this feline.
Cuando llegué a la casa mi hermana no estaba, aún no había salido del trabajo. Abrí la puerta y al rato apareció la gatita maullando, era muy chiquita y tierna. Fui a ver a Linda, la gata que teníamos, y después volví a la sala, donde encontré a la pequeña haciendo pupú en una esquina, en el piso 😡, jajaja. Así fue mi primer encuentro con esta felina.
The next day my sister was going to take her to the store to give her up for adoption, but in the end she didn't, and she told me that if I hadn't asked to meet her, she would have given her up already, but I didn't believe her 😄. Anyway, she ended up staying, and a few days later she was baptized with a curious name: Zé Pequeña.
Al día siguiente mi hermana iba a llevarla a la tienda para darla en adopción, pero al final no lo hizo, y me dijo que si yo no le hubiese pedido conocerla, ya la habría dado, pero no le creí 😄. Como sea, terminó quedándose, y a los pocos días fue bautizada con un curioso nombre: Zé Pequeña.
Her behavior had to do with that, because she was very bad behaved. She climbed everywhere, she wanted to play with everything and if you were eating she would climb up to your head so that you would give her some, in conclusion: she was something (quite) naughty. Then my sister said, “this one is like Zé Pequeño”, that character from the famous Brazilian movie City of God. I think she exaggerated 😂, because that kid was nefarious, but well, that's how it stayed.
Su conducta tuvo que ver con eso, porque era muy mal portada. Se subía en todas partes, quería jugar con todo y si estabas comiendo se te subía hasta la cabeza para que le dieras un poco, en conclusión: era algo (bastante) malandra. Entonces mi hermana dijo, "esta es como Zé Pequeño", aquel personaje de la famosa película brasileña Ciudad de Dios. Yo creo que exageró 😂, porque ese niño era nefasto, pero bueno, así se quedó.
When I looked up the meaning of Zé, in Portuguese it is short for José, so Zé Pequeño could be Josesito (little José), so sometimes I call the cat Josefita, although my sister doesn't like it 😁.
Cuando busqué el significado de Zé, en portugués es diminutivo de José, por lo que Zé Pequeño podría ser Josesito, así que a veces llamo a la gata Josefita, aunque a mi hermana no le gusta 😁.
Since she was little, this cat was very funny and sociable, apart from playing, she also likes to be cuddled and it is very rare that she bites or scratches.
Desde pequeña, esta gata ha sido muy divertida y sociable, aparte de jugar, también le gustan los mimos y es muy raro que muerda o arañe.
We know that puppies grow up fast, and for me it was more evident because I didn't see her every day, so every time I visited her she was bigger and different, but just as tender ❤️.
Ya sabemos que los cachorros crecen rápido, y para mí era más evidente porque no la veía a diario, entonces cada vez que la visitaba estaba más grande y diferente, pero eso sí, igual de tierna ❤️.

Her fur also changed, becoming more abundant, and as she ate quite a lot, she became stout, huggable 😄.

However, her behavior didn't change, she continued with her mischief, which brought scares and problems, for example, on four occasions she threw herself or fell from the window or balcony of the apartment, a fourth floor 😱, fortunately nothing serious happened to her.

When she was about 3 years old, my sister took her to be spayed, she calmed down a bit, but not that much 😆.

Zé Pequeña was never an only cat, when she came to the house there was Linda, and about three years later Guillermina arrived, with both she played or tried to, because many times they fought 😆, I don't have a picture of the three of them together.

Linda died about 5 years after Zé Pequeña arrived, and since then Guillermina has been her companion.

I have lived with cats since childhood, and I can say that they, as well as people, have their personality, and usually don't change over the years, their essential traits remain. Recently Zé Pequeña turned 13 years old and although maybe she is not so active anymore, she is still naughty and mischievous, she gets into the boxes, climbs on the windows, plays with anything and still has little fights half jokingly with the other cat, among other things 😃.
He convivido con gatos desde la infancia, y puedo decir que ellos, así como las personas, tienen su personalidad, y por lo general no la cambian con los años, sus rasgos esenciales permanecen. Hace poco Zé Pequeña cumplió 13 años y aunque quizás ya no es tan activa, sigue siendo traviesa y malandra, se mete en las cajas, se sube a las ventanas, juega con cualquier cosa y sigue teniendo pequeñas peleas medio en broma con la otra gata, entre otras cosas 😃.
Last year she was very sick, my sister took her to the vet, they took some x-rays, and the diagnosis was a respiratory condition. I really thought she would leave because she looked very bad, but fortunately she was able to overcome it, the treatment was successful ❤️.
El año pasado estuvo muy enferma, mi hermana la llevó al veterinario, le sacaron unas placas, y el diagnóstico fue una afección respiratoria. De verdad pensé que partiría porque se veía muy mal, pero afortunadamente pudo superarlo, el tratamiento fue exitoso ❤️.
Although she is my sister's cat, Zé Pequeña is also special to me, what else can I say about this beauty? Animals bring joy to our lives and we should always value their company, whether they are our own or others'.
