How did you and your family celebrate this year's Harvest Season? As Halloween, La Dia de Muertos, All Saints day, Samhain, or something else?

On a Sunday evening i sat down outside my house. The night is cold from the cool November breeze, i still cant believe this year is already coming to an end. Different thoughts in my mind on how this holidays will be like for me, my mind suddenly drifted off towards my dear son, Jason Izibeya. He was all I could think of at this point in my life, even though there were multitudes of people passing by... After four months of delivery, I could not believe that I am still worried about my little boy, 'Jason', what he would eat, the kinds of fruit he should take and the clothes he should wear. In this celebration period, we usually buy our children new clothes and shoes because it makes them very happy... With all this thought going through my head, and my eyes constantly looking at his direction to check if he is okay i haved a sigh... Sometimes I pray to God to help me because my worries for him grow stronger by the day. I guess that I am all alone in this. I thought that I was prepared for motherhood, but I am wrong. Even the books that I read didn't enlighten me that I would be this stressed out mentally, financially and emotionally. It's easier in books than in real life. From the day a child is born, everything about his parents changes. As a mother, you find yourself living an utterly different kind of lifestyle, trying hard to adjust to suit the life of your baby. Now I know what my mama went through raising me; she gave up everything so I would be happy. I used to think that 'Mama nags a lot, she treats me like a child.' Indeed, I am a child. Even as a mother, I am still her child, her baby girl. She guided me through every step. She watched over me like it was her business, like she was getting paid for it. While sitting down with this thoughts going on in my head, I sighted a light and a figure approaching where I was seated. It looked like a burning flame; fear gripped me. At that moment, my motherly instinct activated. I quickly grabbed my son and held him tightly to my chest. I was too scared to even run away. When the fire came closer, I realized that it was just a man holding a lamp. It frightened me more when I saw the man's face. He was dark, tall, and he wore a black mask. In my mind, I kept shouting the blood of Jesus repeatedly. Even passersby were all focused on this man, but he was just doing what makes him happy.

In Africa, we do not celebrate Halloween, though i wish that we celebrated the Halloween holidays here in Africa. I am a fan of horror movies and i love the Halloween costumes. In Africa We have a festival where masquerades come out during the daytime and parade the whole village. I really love the Halloween tradition of carving pumpkins and trick-or-treating. I wish we did something like that here in Africa. The holidays here are awesome too, especially when celebrated with our families and loved ones. During this festive period, my family travels back home to our family house in Bayelsa State, Nigeria, to have a get-together. We usually plan earlier for the holidays, buy all the items needed for decorations and cooking in time. I love it when we buy each other gifts and everyone comes together after so many months to celebrate. Our quiet home becomes lively every holiday period.

My home is blessed with lots of love, but my wish is to travel with my son someday to other countries. I would love him to experience the awesome harvest seasons I see on television and the internet.

I pray Santa grants my wish 🎅

Thank you for stopping by to read ❤️

Motherhood is chaotically beautiful my friend, time goes by quickly, and then you will miss that your children are babies again haha, Greetings and blessings to you.

Yes indeed time flies very fast. Greetings to you too❤️

Aww don't let your worries get to you, you'll be fine ❤️
Jason is such a big boy now 🥹

Yes he is big now... And the bigger the disturbance, cries and worries. Why do I feel like everything has to be perfect for him... Should seek a therapist.

I have two precious sons, they are grown young adults now. I remember how there is no sure fire way in raising children but thank God I had friends that I can get advice from or able to observe from an independent point of view.
That sounds interesting, When and what is this Masquerade festival in Nigeria called?

Thanks for sharing @somsome17

In Nigeria we have a festival called the Ikegi festival. This festival is an annual four days festival held by the Igbo people of Arondizuogu in Imo state. This festival takes place between the month of March and April to celebrate the harvest of new yams and the Igbo culture. It is said to be the largest Masquerade parade in Africa... Though I am not from the Igbo tribe, but I always travel from Bayelsa State to Imo state during this festival...

Jason is my first child, though I get help from my family and friends but you know that no one can take proper care of a child more than his birth mother. In some cases family and friends perform the roles of responsible Parenthood even more than the parents, I choose to have motherly instinct and take proper care of my child... So I have to give him the best of everything. 💖
