A Clean Heart in Dirty Politics: Can I Make a Difference?

in #hive-1538503 months ago

If I had the opportunity to be a Politician, Will I?

I have been thinking about Politics these past few months even though I may not be the type of guy that is into politics. The reason why my thoughts have been going through that aspect or subject is because of the state of how my country is. It is filled with a lot of corrupt people, although there are possibilities that some of the leaders may not be corrupt but there are more corrupt people out there.

And recently, I have noticed something among my friends and many people; What I noticed is that majority of people complain about the government and are not ready to do anything about it. A lot of people who are good at heart chooses not to go into politics because of it is popularly said that politics is a dirty game, and if you are not ready to be dirty like they are, you cannot survive as a politician or amount to anything to good.

If all the good people are avoiding going for politics, then the position is left for which type of people. Is it the people who are corrupt at heart and thirsty for power? There is no way the country can ever get better if we ourselves don't step us into going into politics and making these changes we hope for.

To be sincere, if I see the opportunity that will direct me into politics at the moment with nothing holding me back, I will go into politics and will take the opportunity to occupy the position as the President of Nigeria or any other Powerful position that I am offered.

After occupying this position, I will make sure to make some major changes and one of the first things I will make sure is raising the minimum wage of the country.

Why will I raise the minimum wage of my country?

Isn't it obvious? Maybe if you are not a Nigerian. With the rate of devaluation of the Nigerian currency, Naira, the value of the minimum wage have gone so low that it is impossible to live on it. A friend of mine shared with me about how the minimum wage had reduced in value over the years and I realized how a lot of Nigerians have gone poorer.

In 2016, the minimum wage was 18,000 naira which was exactly $100 at that time and today, the minimum wage at this moment is 30,000 naira which is $20 now. Imagine earning $20 a month in a country where almost everything is inflated.

Let food be affordable for the poor at least...

The second thing I will work on is, how to solve the issue with the massive inflation in the prices of food? There is a lot of difference with between the price of foodstuffs just between last year and this year alone. Imagine the bag of rice last year was about $33, and this year it is about $53.

Health is Wealth...

The third issue I will look into is the health sector. Nigeria has a big issue with its health sector and there is no news about that. Imagine living in a country where your president has travel out to another country each time he has an issue with his health. What happened to his own country? Why not make the hospitals in your country have the necessary requirements to take care of your health. The health sector is flawed, and it needs to be worked on.

Electricity is Life...

Another issue I will look into is the aspect of electricity. Imagine living in a country that supplies electricity to up to three countries and yet, it does not have electricity for itself. Electricity is a major issue in Nigeria, and it affects other sectors as well most especially the health sector.

And Others...

The whole system in Nigeria is flawed, and there are many other sectors that needs to be worked on seriously. For example, is the security issue, cybercrime which is at high alarming rate, and most especially the educational system.

hmm but if you raise minimum wage it could just cause goods and services to rise as well so in the end it doesn't really change much O.O. I think somehow there needs to be focus on how to protect the currency's value. Maybe switch to stablecoin :P go crypto and blockchain haha?

Yeah protecting the currency value will be very important. I had also thought about the fact that increasing the minimum wage may result in the prices of goods and services going higher. Or we should just peg it to a stable coin like you have mentioned and say people should not be paid less than this equivalent in Naira.

haha ya. it's all good tho. economics is a wild thing. even the fed keep trying to raise or lower the interest rate but can't do it good enough O.O. just saw we got a pandax token now wew

!My answer is definitely yes!

It would be an exciting and conflictive fight against the Status Quo. But let's be clear, the construction of large and loyal supporters is needed (a single stick does not make mountains!)

A task that demands new strategies, high commitment and enormous patience. Sow for new generations. Visualize and work for a future that will not be immediate at all. A future that we may not be fortunate enough to see fully consolidated.

The battlefield is there waiting for new visionaries. Who are encouraged?

Dear @starstrings01, thank you for sharing your deep and heartfelt reflections!

I send you a supportive and affectionate greeting!

hmm to actually win a fight against corruption, yeah there is need to be loyal supporters and also other leaders that are against corruption.

The power cut is really a serious issue which needs the attention of the governments.
Here I am talking about myself. On one hand, now we are among the top 4 economies in the world; on the other hand, there are still power cuts in our capital.
Sending Love and Ecency Vote!

How often do you have power cut in your country? Mine is very often and we don't have power for long period of time. although it depends on the location as well.

Hmm
I’m glad you’ve got good plans. It’s a different thing to have plans and it’s a different thing to be a bel to execute it maybe due to the people around you or other factors
If you ever take that path, I wish you well!

That's also my point. If all good people avoid politics then bad people get the power and how can we expect something good from them? You already have some plans even if you are not in power. Just imagine what will happen when you will get the power for real. At least you will do 10X better than the corrupted politicians.

although there are possibilities that some of the leaders may not be corrupt but there are more corrupt people out there

I also think that there should be at least one leader that is not corrupt but even if there is one, it still hard to make positive change with the rest of the government being corrupt and I also think that there are leaders that started with pure intentions but once they get into the position of power and wealth is becomes corrupt.

Yeah true, there are leaders that may have started with pure intentions. But with the way the system is, they may have chosen to go with the flow. Like if you are in Roman, behave like romans.

It is hard to enact positive change when the organization and the whole system are against you.

Oh my gosh, my crushhy already has manifestoes...lol

Of a truth, Nigeria has some serious issues that need to be addressed, and it's high time we stop just complaining and start taking action.

You are right, if all the good people avoid politics because it's a "dirty game," then we're just leaving it to the corrupt and power-hungry. 🤦‍♂️ But if more of us with good hearts and intentions step up, we can make some real changes happen. The question is, will they allow good people to rule?

I'm with you on raising the minimum wage - it's crazy how the Naira has lost so much value over the years. $20 a month is barely enough to survive, let alone live comfortably. And the food prices? Damn, it's getting ridiculously high.

Let me skip the health part because I am always ashamed of my country every time a renowned person has been flown off to be treated elsewhere

But you see electricity? I will chuk my mouth here o because it is insane that a country with so much potential is struggling to keep the lights on. It affects everything, from businesses to hospitals to our daily lives.

I hope you contest for a position @starstrings01. You know I can't leave my crush hanging, I will vote for you 😁

I actually left a comment, just coming back to see that nothing was sent.

The electricity is insane in my Nigeria, and gets worse depending on the country one may live in. And this most especially affects a lot of things in the country.

I hope you contest for a position @starstrings01. You know I can't leave my crush hanging, I will vote for you

See me blushing here. Thanks so much for the love always....
