We are living in a world filled with information; data is being stored, kept and shared about everyone. In fact, data is now one of the most important substances to everyone at this moment. And when I say data, I do not just mean a subscription plan to access the internet. What I actually mean is the information you carry and share on social media, either Web2 or Web3. Every single text, image, video, and content in general are data itself.
With the increase in the amount of data produced on a daily basis by the world, more companies are looking for people who are talented at deriving insights from data and making use of this knowledge for their businesses, helping them to make informed decisions and tailoring their business to the needs of their customers.
Not only limited to businesses, AI itself, which is the trend of this century, is seen as the future of today's technology being built by data itself—the endless amount of data that has been uploaded on the world wide web. With this knowledge, AI is able to understand, relate and even provide answers faster than the normal google search. In fact, it replies as if you are chatting with a real human itself. All these are possible due to the large amount of data these AI models have been trained with.
In fact, you will find almost all businesses incorporating AI on their websites and mobile applications due to its effectiveness in providing answers to customers where there will not always be a need for an online customer service.
Hence the need for learning a skill focused in Data Science and AI. I have a journey into become a Data Scientist. Although data science is broad, I will like to venture more into artificial intelligence, understand natural language processing and large language models, and know the basics and how they can be incorporated in businesses and applications today.
Due to my wish of wanting to become a data scientist, I have begun making a move towards the goal and learning almost everydayalthough I have not studied for a week now. I have been able to build my knowledge in Python for Data Analysis, which at this moment I am trying as much to remember and put to practice all that I have learnt.
Building a career in tech is not easy; it requires consistency in learning, building projects and also being active socially. It is a very rewarding career but the learning steep is quite high, and the vast amount of people coming into these fields are quite high. This makes getting a career in any of the tech fields difficult; another added reason is also because companies know there are a vast number of beginners in the field; this is why they are only out for those that stand out.
Presently, there is nothing stopping me from learning this skill. I pretty much have everything I need to learn and become very good at it. At first, if I was asked this question a few months ago, I would have said time because I was very active in school then but now, I literally have nothing holding me back than myself. I have nothing that I am doing in particular that is taking me time aside from other hobbies like video editing, content creation and maybe other activities that I am looking out there to make a living outside of Hive.
Attaining a career in this path and being very good—to the extent that it would be difficult to replace me—will make me valuable and as well transform my financial life. The pay for people with this type of skill is usually high because of its demand and the value it contributes to most companies.
Out of all skills that I may have, this one is that which I place more priority on. This is why I do not choose to let it remain as a wish but as a goal, a plan set for myself because I know that wishes rarely come true.
