Weekend On A Mountain Village

in #hive-16377211 days ago

This weekend, I found myself in the mountain village of Katafigi Kozanis, nestled in the Pieria mountains. It’s a place where modern technology takes a backseat, with almost no cellphone reception. Here, you truly disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the modern world. Without the constant buzz of notifications and the temptation to check your phone every few minutes, you’re left to explore and connect with nature in its purest form.

Katafigi Kozanis is a quaint village that seems to be untouched by time. The temperature here is a welcome change from the city, about 10 degrees Celsius cooler. As I arrived, the mountain air was refreshing, a stark contrast to the summer heat of the city. The cool breeze immediately made me feel relaxed and at ease.

With no internet to distract me, I set out to explore the village and find the changes from last years visit. Walking through the cobblestone streets, I marveled at the traditional stone houses, each with its own unique charm. The locals, although few, were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile ,a glass of tsipouro and a story about their village.

One of the highlights of my weekend was taking long walks around Katafigi. The village is surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills, perfect for anyone who loves hiking and nature walks. I followed a trail that led me into the woods.

The Pieria mountains themselves are a treasure trove of natural beauty. Known for their rich flora and fauna, the mountains are home to a variety of wildlife. The diverse plant life, from vibrant wildflowers to old trees, added to the enchanting atmosphere.

One of my favorite spots was a secluded clearing I stumbled upon during one of my walks. It was the perfect place to sit down, relax, and take in the serene surroundings. With no one around and only the sounds of nature to keep me company, I felt a profound sense of peace.

The difference in temperature also meant that evenings in Katafigi were particularly pleasant. As the sun set behind the mountains, the temperature dropped further, creating a cool, crisp environment perfect for sitting outside and enjoying the night sky. With minimal light pollution, the stars were incredibly bright and clear. I spent hours just gazing up, lost in the beauty of the cosmos.

My weekend in Katafigi Kozanis was a refreshing escape from the digital world. It’s a place where you can truly disconnect and immerse yourself in nature. The combination of stunning landscapes, cooler temperatures, and the warm hospitality of the locals is something I yearn for and that is why I will buy a house there and start going even more spending weeks at summer time especially now that the temperature in the city is unbearable.

there are times that the only noise you hear is the air in the leaves

This place sure has a refreshing feel that makes you feel more alive just from looking at it. Nature really does help us feel more connected with a part of ourselves that the modern world has deprived us of.
