A few mushrooms are still out even though it has been very dry for the last couple of weeks. We have gone two weeks without rain which is a long stretch for Vermont.
The forest floor is usually shaded with lots of decaying leaves, stumps, and other organic matter so it stays pretty damp even without rain.
When out hiking, I feel obligated to stop and shoot any mushrooms I see. But depending out how tired I am, how hot it is, or how bad the bugs are ... well sometimes I don't 😊 This first mushroom is probably some type of amanita.
This lovely mushroom village wouldn't be ignored lol look at all of us 🙂
As pretty as they are, they are maybe also edible. Armillaria?
