The last time I looked forward to the holidays was when I was an undergraduate. The pressure of school, exams, early morning classes, tests, practical, and projects really would stress me out that I knew what week every week was so that I would calculate when I would travel for some well-deserved rest.
At that time, I would visit my uncle, and we would have a lot of fun outings, eat some really nice meals, link up with some of his friends for even more fun moments, even though most of the time, I preferred to stay at home and just sleep because my sleep routine would be messed up the moment I resumed back to school. But now, the situation is different.
I got a message from my boss this morning on the tasks I needed to complete and a scheduled meeting for tomorrow, and I was not shocked. I signed up for it. In fact, I recently stopped responding to work messages at late nights and very early in the morning until it was resumption time.
I work from home, and apart from the fact that I don’t have to journey to work every day, it’s more like a full-time job for me with no resting period. So, where does the holiday part comes in? maybe tomorrow, but then, I have a meeting with my boss tomorrow.
I asked my boss when the company would be closing for the year, and he said, “close? We are not closing”. This means that there definitely is no holiday anywhere.
My boss is neither a harsh nor a bad man, but for a company like his that is just upcoming, and a lot of people are just starting to notice, it is important to dedicate more time than the others. So, here’s how my holiday is going.
This morning, I have responded to work messages, recorded voiceovers, edited videos, posted on our socials, scheduled a meeting, and currently waiting to prepare the videos for our socials for the new year greetings and celebrations.
Also, I am trying to prepare my data analytics portfolio, complete the tutorials, get the certifications I planned to have before the year ends tomorrow so that I won’t have to do that in the next two days.
Even though I do not have any holiday for now, I look forward to the time when I can confidently go on vacations in December like many people do, spend time with family, go out with friends, and just enjoy some me time for the usual holiday period like this.
To the Hive Learner’s contest question for when my holiday ends, it does every evening when I go to sleep, and I resume to my routine every morning. So far since the holidays started, I have packed no bags, and I definitely won’t need to pack any to resume.
Honestly, I look forward to resuming to my routine every day because it’s another opportunity to get a step closer to getting my deserved rest and vacations in the future.
