In this article I am going to cover something that I have not seen discussed. My observation came from jumping through a few profiles. There was something very interesting that I came across.
Because of this, I am going to call it the LeoThreads Ratio. It will take some time, drilling down through hundreds of profiles to get the exact ratio. However, as a starting point, we can just bring up the framework to emphasize the point.
To say that threads changed things is an understatement. What is also applicable is how often we see people complaining about not being upvoted on Hive. Yet, as we will see, there is a simple solution.
The LeoThreads ratio seems to be applicable to both active accounts and those who less active. Of course, the goal is to get more people active.
So let us dig in.
The LeoThreads Ratio
What is the LeoThreads ratio?
Simply it is the ratio between threads made and upvotes received. This is a rather simple model yet one that makes it easy to follow.
In short, there is a relationship between the number of threads a person has and the number of upvotes. Hence, unlike other aspects of the ecosystem, the focus should be on activity.
Here are some examples.
The essence is to divide the number of upvotes by the number of threads made.
We will start with my account.
My ratio is 1.017.
The next one has less activity but it comes in at 1.659.
Then 1.379.
1.33
.815
1.41
1.005
1.14
Statistically speaking, we are all over the board. These were names just pulled at random based upon who I saw online at a given time. There were no methodology to the selection.
However, as we can see, each thread results in .81 to 1.65 upvotes. Why such a range? There is no telling. Some of it could be where people choose to thread while other factors could be threading versus rethreading.
Whatever the reason, when I scour different profiles it is always the same.
Do More Threading
This means it is a simple concept. To get more upvotes, more threads are all that is required. The list here goes from a couple thousand to my 88K. This is a wide enough range to see there is not much of a fall off.
Over the next few weeks, it might be worthwhile to pull the data on a wider range of accounts. However, it is evident from going through 25-30, this holds.
Activity on threads equates to upvotes. Since this is what people seem to focus upon, we have evidence of what is taking place.
I would say that on average, each thread receives at least 1 upvote. To gain more upvotes, simply make more threads.
This is what the LeoThreads Ratio tells us.
Here is a test for you: try this on your own. Go through a number of profile and look at the ration. You will find that almost all fall between the 1-2 range.
Armed with this information, now there is no complaining. Anyone who whines about the lack of attention can simply be pointed to the fact that threads do get voted. That means one simply has to get active.
Perhaps over the next week I will see if I can get a baseline of 100-200 accounts as a sample size.
