What would be your reaction if someone crashed your wedding?
Well, if I loved the person I was getting married to, I'll probably be furious but if I didn't love them, trust me to breathe a huge sigh of relief.
I've never actually witnessed a wedding being crashed before, and books like this make me want to witness one.
Solange Pereira is a romance fanatic. The kind of person who blushes at everything romance. She has just ditched Washington DC for greener pastures, which leaves her in a not so exciting position of helping her wedding planner cousin plan a wedding for a random couple, or so she thinks.
While assisting her cousin with the wedding plans, Solange finds the bride and a man who is definitely not the groom getting mushy in a stairwell.
The romantic in her immediately goes on overdrive. She cannot allow this wedding to happen! especially when she knows very well the bride has no atom of love for the groom.
Solange, on a mission to save the sanctity of romance in holy matrimony, does what would be the nightmare of every couple, she crashes their wedding, and has the bride admitting that she has no feelings whatsoever for the groom.
The groom on the other hand, Deam Chapman, is someone who has his life all planned out.
Dean probably doesn't care of his intended bride loved him or not, he just wants to make partner at a law firm he works with.
For that to happen, he has to be in a relationship.
Honestly, I don't get the buzz about certain position being reserved for only people who are married or in a serious relationship.
Critics have argued that certain positions are only suitable for people who are married, as they have an idea as to what responsibility is, but in my opinion, there are more chaotic and irresponsible married people than there are single people.
Seeing that his wedding has been crashed, Dean must be in a serious relationship with another person soon enough, or risk losing his boss' validation, and eventually his promotion.
This is where it gets really interesting. Dean has to come up with another girlfriend, and fast, and that leaves him with no other option, than telling his boss that he's in a serious relationship with none other than Solange, the same person who crashed his wedding.
Solange, feels really guilty about crashing Dean's wedding. So when he reaches out to her and practically begs her to be his fake girlfriend, none of them had the slightest motion that physical attraction could ever come into play.
Here's where it gets tricky. Solange is an "all in" kind of person. She's a lover girl, and there's no possible way she could fall in love with Dean, who is not a believer in love.
I mean, the irony of it all was definitely enough to keep me going. These are definitely the kind of arrangement where someone gets hurt, and I didn't want that for Solange.
Sparks are flying, emotions are at an all time high, but are all these enough to make Dean committed?
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Enjoyed is definitely an understatement, I was struck with the storyline and I kept waiting to see how Dean and Solange's love story will unravel.
My favorite character is definitely Solange. She was a breathe of fresh air. There were so many things to love about her, her Brazilian heritage was definitely one of them.
Do I recommend this novel? Yes I definitely do. This is one of those novels you recline on a sofa and just soak in because you're sure you'll enjoy it.
