Day 22!!! Hive Argentina invites you to share your reflections, celebrations and experience on the change of seasons!

This topic ... well of course I was tempted but no way could I say it is womanly but it is seasonal

4 seasons in one day

Here in Scotland it is not uncommon to experience four yes four seasons in one day.

We jest that the weather is like a woman that cannot make up her mind.

But I remember one summer at school in Edinburgh it must have been early July in the height of summer I was playing cricket. I was actually batting and it started fluffing snowing!

Yes snowing in the month of July our summer... of course it stopped not long afterwards but crazy, some would say we have had crazy weather for a while.

Of course seasons are celebrated in the UK. I think it is more the solstices that are celebrated.

Summer solstice

This is the longest day of the year which is the start of the astronomical start of summer and will fall on around the 21st of June. I think it was the 20th this year.

I actually find it a bit sad as it means daylight starts to get shorter!

The most famous celebration is at Stonehenge in England where people come to watch the sunrise over the stones.

So these are standing stones in Orkney, you get the idea a fluffing bit stone ring that is thousands of years old!

There are also parties and festivals up and down the UK. Then there are pagan rituals often to connect with nature.

It is a fun time and personally I am at my happiest as it is full daylight when you are up in the North of Scotland!

Winter Solstice

The winter solstice has been celebrated in the UK for fluffing centuries but what is it?

Fact 1 It happens to be the shortest day and the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. (Reverse day and night for the Southern hemisphere I presume)

Fun fact 2 This year 2024 it will be on Saturday, December 21st at 9:19 am GMT , why 9.19 I don't know, I wonder if it is 9.19 in the summer too!

Again it is an astronomical event and there are the usual celebrations and rituals. I think being dark and cold there are far more bonfires and pagan rituals are more prominent with witches flying around!

I like it for one big reason, the days are getting longer 3 minutes at a time!

SAD

SAD is real and I suffer from it big time in the winter....

SAD stands for Seasonal Affective Disorder. It's a type of depression that's related to changes in seasons.

It generally starts in Autumn and ends in Spring.

Basically it saps your energy, you get moody and depressed and need light!

Even tonight I was moaning to Mrs T that the nights are drawing in already!

Do you say Fall or Autumn?

We in the UK say Autumn ... but those Americans say Fall allegedly because things fall to the ground ...

Walking home today Mrs T (American) goes .... see Fall is here the leaves are falling!

Of course you do get lovely reds and oranges, I know some friends who never experience it and every year I have to send her pictures!

Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoyed my response to the prompt.

We've been known to get some huge weather swings here in Michigan too. It looks like fall might finally be here now.

Four seasons in a single day, you guys need to capture this in the Guinness book of records. This year for me has been mostly, I don't know if we are experiencing climate change over here. Maybe the part of the country I am staying too

It has been mostly what for you?

Mostly cold Mr. Tengo. Sorry I missed that, maybe the cold in my room is adding to that, Lols

SAD....

Seems like quite an interesting predicament.
I know someone's mood can change because of the weather but to change because of seasons....

Gats be tiring 😭

Getting angrier and angrier as summer carries on...

Yeah it is a thing, unlike the equator where the amount of day light is static ... Up in the North you have 22 hours daylight in the summer and 2 hours daylight in the winter. That is fluffing depresssing!
