When I saw this week's contest questions, I was so happy because they were something I could write on and relate to. I knew I was going to participate.
The first question was, ‘Do you believe that each of us has a soulmate?’
To me, we all do. I think we all have soulmates. I don't think any human was born to be lonely in this vast wide world. We were probably assigned a soulmate when we were just babies. I believe soulmates comes in different forms. A romantic partner or even your best friend. Your soulmate could be someone who your soul is in sync with. Someone you do not have to doubt. Someone who knows the needs and wants of your soul and always wants to satisfy it. When you meet your soulmate, I think you feel that relief, that ease on the pressure that has been building on your heart. I think your soul would finally feel warm, content and satisfied. Like, you would rather be around no one else. That's how I would feel if I ever met my soulmate.
Sometimes, we hear these sentences, “It was love at first sight.” or “I just knew he/she was the one” or “When I met him/her, it just felt right.” I think that's how it should feel when you meet the person the universe has prepared for you. Like an alignment, like things clicking into place, like parallel lines finally meeting.
I read a quote somewhere which goes like this, “I wish we were born with the name of our soulmate attached to our toes.”, and i can't agree less.
I believe that if we knew the names of our soulmates, we wouldn't have to stumble around, getting attached to people who are not meant to be. Instead, we would feel that assurance when we meet our soulmate. But I guess the experience matters also. The experience we get when we fall into the wrong relationship or friendships matters because then we know our do’s and don’t’s. We know what we want and do not want. We know the kind of people we want in our lives. We prepare ourselves through these experiences for the final meeting with the human who owns the other half of our soul. We feel complete just then.
Sometimes, people don't get to meet their soulmates though. Or circumstances could prevent them from spending enough time with their soulmates. Life's not all roses. Life could keep throwing stumbling blocks or obstacles in people's paths. Life could prevent them from feeling that completeness. Life could give them a brief tour on happiness and contentment, and lead them out just as fast. But in everything, we should always take pleasure in the brief snatches of happiness we can get.
What makes you smile when you are having a bad day?
Ahh… bad days are the absolute worst. You know?? Those days when you can't seem to get anything right, when you feel like the world might just be working against you. Bad days could drain whatever happiness or joy you are feeling. I read somewhere that bad days can sometimes be called ‘the fuckening’. And that's why we need to find things that can spark up our smiles after experiencing the worst days.
On days like the bad ones, I love to chat with my favorite person. He makes the bad days better and he knows the right words to say, the right things to do to get me to smile again. It's just sad that distance is a barrier between us. I also like to talk with my roommate. She could bring up a whole string of topics that would get me.talking and laughing and forgetting my worries.
Sometimes, we need to treat our sweet tooth to something nice once in a while, moreso on the bad days. I like to treat myself to decadent snacks like Lush chocolate cookies. It is a snack that would fill you with bliss and a rush of pleasure. I also take crackers and chocolate tea or cakes made by my baker coursemate. Taking a bite from these treats makes me moan in delight and they elicit a glowing smile from my face.
I find that watching a favorite comfort show or reading a romance book, listening to favorite songs makes me happy on a bad day. I tend to travel into the fictional world and take pleasure in my favorite scene, chapter or lyric. I could forget my worries or whatever caused my mood swings, at least for a short while.
Doing these things help me get through the worst of days. They feel me with dopamine and endorphin and leave me feeling better about myself. Also, happier with myself.
