Alot of games were anticipated during the weekend, but I don't think there is any match that was anticipated, like the battle between Manchester City and Arsenal yesterday. It was a battle between two rival teams. It has always been a battle, especially when it is a London derby match. I was actually not at home when the match was about to start, but I had to rush home because I knew it was going to be a tough battle for the two teams. And I was very right about it because the first half was like a hell in a cell match, which was very entertaining yet tough for the both teams.
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland scored his first goal in the 9th minute of the match, giving his team a lead ahead of the Arsenal side. Arsenal were very determined, and still in the first half, Arsenal defender Calafiori scored a fantastic goal in the 22nd minute, making the game an equalizer. Then I knew it was going to be a tug of war for both teams.
Still in the first half, Gabriel scored another goal, putting Arsenal ahead of City in the 45+1 min. I was not just happy that Arsenal were taking the lead, but I wanted them to win the match because they really put in their effort to make sure they defeat City. The tragic moment came when Trossard was sent off in the 45+8 minute of the match.
It was a big moment of frustration for Mikel Arteta, their head coach, who almost ran out of his mind when he saw this but had to control himself. This was where I knew the referee had a side for the city because it is still something he should have overlooked because it was already the end of the first half and could have just given him a warning judging the heat of the match as at then, but he didn't.
I was trying to imagine how Arsenal would put through in the second half, and I was not hoping the city would score, but since I knew the referee was not being too fair enough, I knew anything could happen. Although, Arsenal tried their best to hold City down and secure their lead till almost the end of the match, the referee pulled another stunt at almost the end of the second half, giving Manchester City an equalizer, and then John Stones came up to score a goal in the 90+8 minutes, and then the match ended in a draw.
Man City 2-2 Arsenal: All thanks to Stone's late goal that denied the 10-man Arsenal team from securing their 3 points after they had really worked in the second half to secure their win. John Stones' 98th-minute leveller ensured that the points were shared equally among Manchester City and Arsenal. The match is one of the epic matches I would love to watch again, and let's see how another derby match will look in the weekend. Peace out.
