Hello World!

in #education3 years ago

I'm giving this a shot due to the encouragement from a little yellow bird. I am enjoying the end of 2021 but dreading yet another year of mask mandates, vaccine boosters, and new variants. I kind of miss the "fun" part of covid where gas prices were low and we all sat around and watched Tiger King on Netflix.

Now it seems that phase is behind us, sure we got Squid Game, but the ever-increasing spectre of inflation and supply chain constraints continue. It's not just about the impossibility to buy a PS5 in a store or the rising cost of a new car. It's the masking and fear that we see on tv each day that is getting more difficult with each passing month.

What puts it in perspective for me are the kids in school, who have endured virtual learning and masking in school for 2, going on 3 years. It is so much different from just a few years ago, and I sincerely wonder the long-term impact that will play.

No doubt, we will pull through, but I do hope the new year can finally change the course that we have been headed towards. I hope you have a happy new year! Spend time with family and friends. Don't let work and stress take a toll on your mental health or your well-being :)

I wonder if I should just pay you the 1 VYB or spend it to promote your post and win the bet that way.

I burning 1 VYB to see what will happen when I promote this.
Can't you add a picture and make it pretty?

I had an issue trying to add a photo before, but seems to be working now. Up to you on the 1 vyb from the contest. It's all for fun :)

Anyway I think this post pays out soon and you take home some of my VYB vote... that's cool.

Dang... I was hoping some people would jump in on the comments by now. A lot of the times it's because we are too sometimes busy to read and need some subtitles to guide us and a little bit of click bait to feel like we have something important to read (psychology stuff).

Thank you for your sincere new year greeting^^

No one knows what is ahead. For me I think it's really important to get to the kid's heart and let them speak as much as possible. For a math teacher I would stop trying to teach how to solve problems and just give students some interesting challenges and ask them how they got there and why they think their solution is correct.

I've come to notice in the past two years that masks and zoom or distance classes are not the problem. The barriers already existed they are just more easy to recognize now. I don't mean I wish us to continue to have covid and social distancing and masks for kids. I mean make the best of the situation. I have a winter camp now. For the past two years it has been online. This is the first time we are meeting face to face. The government put strict measures on the camp. It is a headache but it is an advancement in knocking down the barriers.

The same is with your interactions here. Every time you write about some event or detail in your life you are breaking down barriers. There are national barriers and age barriers and barriers of religion and race. A community is a good place to let down those barriers.

Also take initiative to interact with others in vyb.

I guess I lost the bet @absolute but I think this was a good step for you to reach out.
