I survived the Thanksgiving holiday here yesterday. My plans for the day didn't exactly go as planned, but things turned out nicely. Since my son was off with his girlfriend for the holiday my plan was to stay home and watch college football, and order a pizza. Those plans for a nice quiet day were changed when my neighbor invited me over to her home for dinner with friends. To be polite I accepted, and she is a great cook! However, there were ulterior motives in play. She was trying to hook me up with one of her friends, the old ambush technique! I passed on the fixup, but the food was great!
Now onto today's post! I have been participating in the Silver Gold Stackers Twelve Day of Christmas Challenge. This entails sharing twelve items you might like to receive from your secret Santa (or under the tree as well I suppose.) I am up to day seven, and I have a fun item today. I am an animal lover, and I tend to like to collect silver or gold coins with animals on them when I find something I really like. Today's pick is another gold Aurum note from the Valaurum Company which contains one hundred milligrams of pure gold embedded within the note itself, and features one of my favorite animals, the gray wolf!
This note isn't legal tender in any country, but contains pure gold which in my eyes is better than any fiat. That is unless said fiat is made with pure gold or silver! This is part of a series that celebrates some of the large indigenous animals of North America. I previously shared the buffalo note which is really nice, but today I have another beauty, just have a look:

About the Aurum

Isn't that a beautiful work of art? They put a lot of work into making these gold notes more than just plain gold, and I can only imagine it must have taken many long hours to produce the design found on these notes. This is why I have it as my choice for day number seven on my Christmas wish list. Plus they aren't too expensive, and run around twenty dollars at most retailers. And just in case you wonder what the flip side of one of these notes looks like, I've added in that view as well for your viewing pleasure!

What I love about animal themed gold and silver is that it gives me a chance to share a bit more about featured star of the show. No exception today, today I'll share a bit about the gray wolf!

What beautiful animals!
The wolf is often called the gray wolf because of their typical colorations. They currently live not only in North America but across Asia and most of Europe. They used to be wide spread in the United States but were mercilessly slaughtered by ranchers claiming they were responsible for killing their animals. Although there were some losses from wolves hunting prey, most of the claims were for the most part unfounded. Additionally people feared they might be attacked by them, however, the few instances this occurred was due to the animal being infected with the rabies virus. As a general rule wolves have long since learned to avoid humans because they are a danger to the animals.
Over the last decades wolves have been slowly reintroduced into North America. The initial reintroduction occurred in Yellowstone National Park but since some small populations have also appeared in southern Oregon/ northern California and in New Mexico. Hopefully they will make a full recovery and slowly repopulate. Fortunately Canada and Alaska still have healthy populations of the creatures, although they were also eradicated in Mexico.
And for all of you dog lovers out there, all of your cute little pet dogs descended from the wolf. As wolves became domesticated they were selectively bred to get dogs with certain sizes and traits. So even the toy poodle is a descendent of the wolf!
I've never seen any wolves in the wild unfortunately, only the smaller coyote which still lives all over the all of North America and down into Mexico. Wolves are beautiful creatures though, I have had friends who had hybrid wolves as pets and they are really pretty animals. However, they can be a little unpredictable so they aren't very commonly kept as pets.
That will wrap up my post for day seven of my Silver Gold Stackers wish list. I hope you like the Aurum gold note, they are really cool. Most people know the Gold Back already, but the Aurum is produced by the same company that produces the Gold Backs. So you can have confidence they are produced with quality and have the exact amount of gold stated on the note itself. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them below. Thank you so much for your support, it's greatly appreciated! Have a great weekend everyone!
