Friday has come at last! Last night was a lot of fun as I had trick-or-treaters come by all evening dressed up in all sorts of costumes. The youngest ones were almost the most excited to be getting candy as they walked around with their parents all around the neighborhood. Although the street I live on there really aren't any families with small children there are enough in the surrounding area that I gave out a lot of candy! And for once I didn't end up with much left, which is good because the last thing I need around is candy to spoil my diet...
Today also happens to be the magical day of the month here on Hive where we all power on up some Hive. Today I went ahead and did the minimum power up as usual. I usually end up powering up sporadically throughout the month. Plus today I had HSBI to send out for the winners of the Shadow Hunters contest and Nineties Friday. That usually takes up a lot of my liquid Hive and did so again today. But I did get a power up done!
That bumped my Hive Power to 5,357, I'm pushing my way up to 6,000 HP! My goal for the year was to make it to 5K, and it sure felt good to get that accomplishment checked off. One of these days soon I will reach 10K, that is going to feel great!
Because it's Friday as well I thought I should throw in some fun music from the 1990's. Its is Nineties Friday after all! Usually I throw in some movies and TV shows, but I'll save those for next time and just go with some great music today. Also, because we just had Halloween I'll throw in some Halloween music too!
For those of you unfamiliar with Nineties Friday it's a weekly event in which you can share just about anything from the decade of the 90's. Each week a random winner can win 6 HSBI, and you can never have too many of those. Just create a post and add whatever material you want from the 90's and either use the tag #ninetiesfriday or you can also join the 90's Friday group and publish it there, although not mandatory. It's never a bad idea to do a a shoutout @geneeverett since he started the event.
First up is the 1990's movie quiz. The first person to identify the movie the line came from AND which character spoke the line wins one HSBI unit. Good luck! Here is the quote:
"I feel good, I feel great, I feel wonderful"
Now onto the music... You can't do a proper Halloween without some Rob Zombie, so here we go!
Rob Zombie
hdwallpapers.in
Rob Zombie has been obsessed with zombies since he was a child and watched just about every zombie movie ever made. And has even made some of his own! Back in 1998 he released his first solo album "Hellbilly Deluxe" which had multiple hit songs. I've shared "Dragula" recently so I thought we might go with "Spookshow Baby":
Alice Cooper
npr.org
Ok, I shared this not too long ago, but it is a lot of fun. Alice Cooper has been on the horror rock scene for decades and puts on a great show if you've never seen one. It's like a horror show, magic act, and hard rock concert all in one. This one is from the early 90's, "Feed My Frankenstein":
The Cranberries
The Cranberries were and Irish band that featured lead vocalist Dolores O'Riordan since 1990 when she joined the band. In 1993 with the release of their first album they became famous worldwide with the hit "Linger". On their second album though came one of their biggest hits, "Zombie". Sadly Delores passed away about six years ago effectively ending the band. Here's "Zombie":
Foo Fighters
fity.club
Dave Grohl put together a group of talented musicians following the death of Kurt Cobain ending Nirvana. This Seattle band became a global phenomenon with the release of their first self titled album. This week when driving in the car this song came on, and it's just so catchy it sticks in your head. So although not Halloween at all, here's "Everlong" off of their second album:
Lou Bega
da-records.de
Although I usually throw something in at the end of these in Spanish, I first heard this song when I lived in Puerto Rico so it kind of counts. It's a lot of fun, after all, how often do you have a chance to listen to mambo music? This one is "Mambo No. 5":
That will wrap up this HPUD & Nineties Friday combo. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did creating it. I want to say thank you to all of you for all of your support, it really means a lot to me! I hope you all have an amazing weekend everyone!
