Actually, there's a unique story about places of worship of other religions: I really want to get into them one by one. It's like I want their crucial places as a means of tolerance. Before this pagoda, yesterday in Solo, precisely at Pasar Gede, I was also interested in the Buddhist temple directly opposite Pasar Gede, however, I didn't have the courage, so I cancelled my intention to cross to the temple.
Alu, Semarang offers something equally beautiful. The temple, which is under the guidance of Sangha Theravada Indonesia, is about 30 metres tall.
Pagooda Avalokitesvara Buddhhagaya Watugong
From the start in the car park, I went straight to the main door in the form of a gate in front of which there is a stone in the shape of a sound instrument called a gong.
This stone later became the symbol of the origin of the name of the monastery area. Then turning towards the kanna, there is a large inscription containing the writing of an edict of King Asoka which reads about unity and unity between religious communities. This edict dates back to 269-232 BC.
After that, I walked to the lower area before the upper portico of the monastery. In the lower area, there is a buddha statue under a lush tree where ribbons of wishes from their faithful hang from reachable branches. This is a bodhi tree if you read the description, it is said to be the tree of the holy man where the ascetic Sidharta received perfect illumination and became Buddha in Boddhagaya, India. It looks beautiful and all the prayers are hopeful. There is also a beautiful goddess statue. I wasn't sure, but, was she Kwam In?
At first, I hesitated when I wanted to approach the main part of the monastery, fortunately, there was a monastery guard who let me go upstairs and go around to the backyard to see the reclining buddha statue.
Finally, without hesitation, I moved to the top. The pagoda has a seven-tiered roof that tapers upwards. The red colour is unbelievably beautiful. I'm not particularly fond of the colour red, but seeing it on a monastery or pagoda has always been an attraction for me. The sky was a bit overcast when I visited but it didn't detract from the beauty of the monastery.
The Avalokitesvara Pagoda is the most beautiful centrepiece of the monastery. This building is the embodiment of the love of the Buddhas in the universe.
Towards the back area, there is a statue of a reclining buddha or buddha parinibbana which is a symbol of the Buddha who has passed away (parinibbana). this statue is placed under the twin Sala trees.
As for other buildings, there is a Dhammasala or the centre of the monastery building which consists of two floors. Which, on the upper floor is a place for Buddhist devotion, sermons, meditation, and others.
I asked my friend to take a picture of me in front of this beautiful pagooda. After I finished my tour, I decided to go home feeling happy. I love anything that is beautiful. Including Avalokitesvara Pagoda
Hi, I am the child of the universe, I like to read books with various genres. I was born in the city of batik but can't draw batik yet. I want to be a novelist, but my works are only short poems that are included in anthology books.
