One of which I visited last Friday. So, in addition to enjoying the fine arts at City Gallery South Tangerang, I was also invited to perform at the event.
The distance from home is only about thirty minutes by motorcycle. Of course I was not alone later, there I met my friends from my community Dapoer Shastra Tjisaoek, such as: Istiana Salihati, Kaifin, Adang, Tao, etc.
After arriving, because the event had not yet started, I first went around the exhibition gallery. There were many paintings displayed by painters in South Tangerang, such as: Ireng Halimun, Novandi, Arif Conte, Luthfi Ayu, etc. The curator of this exhibition was Mayek Prayitno.
While practicing at the back of the building, I found an abstract painting by painter Edi Bonetski. I also found a painting by SP Hidayang with the title Entertainment of the People (ngibing). which was displayed on a 200X200 canvas in 2024.
In addition, I saw a painting by RB Ali with the title Perjalanan in the size of 100X 200 which is dominated by the color red. In my interpretation, RB Ali wanted to portray criticism of the government.
There were still many other paintings, I didn't manage to walk through each one because the event was about to start.
I saw that not many audience members had come, but, one by one, the poets came to the stage to perform the poems they would read. I got my turn number three after my friend Kaifin read a poem by his favorite poet, Jokpin.
Actually, this was my first stage act after about four years of hiatus from the theater stage. Because I am the type of performer who performs monologues with long scripts, however, at that time I was not ready to perform monologues off script, finally, I decided to perform a Reading monologue. I was inspired by the cultural figure Butet Kertaradjasa who did monologue reading, so I tried to be like her.
The script I chose was Agus Noor's work. Agus Noor is famous for his critical works about the social and political conditions in my country. So, I felt happy to perform Agus Noor's script.
Shortly after I finished performing, my performance was judged by a senior playwright, Mr. Totok. We had a short discussion backstage on things that needed more detail. Over all, my performance was good, according to him. Thank you, Mr. Totok for the appreciation.
