Two beautiful ancient coins. It's got everything on it that's supposed to be there. Tetradrachms like this were minted in Athens in the 5th century BC. They were very popular.

But looking at the obverse, everything is different. Niue 2020 and St Helena 2024. What's that? An expression of admiration for ancient beauty? Plagiarism? I don´t know.

Is there such a thing as a copyright on ancient artistic monuments? For specific parts of humanity's cultural heritage?

I'm not a lawyer. Here in Europe, they say that the USA is the promised land for lawyers. Isn't there a lawyer reading this article? But I guess lawyers get their realization somewhere other than Hive. And anyway, I suppose Anglo-Saxon law is different from continental law.

How about this? A commemorative medal to mark Donald Trump's presidential swearing-in.

Do you think Donald Trump agreed to the use of his likeness on this medal? That the U.S. agreed to use the presidential seal? I kind of doubt both.

By the way. The medal. I'll translate the entire offer:

Dvě krásné starověké mince. Je na nich všechno, co tam má být. Tetradrachmy, jako je tato, se razily v Athénách v 5. století př. n. l. Byly velmi oblíbené.

Při pohledu na averzní stranu je ale všechno jinak. Niue 2020 a Svatá Helena 2024. Co to je? Projev obdivu k antické kráse? Plagiát? Nevím.

Existuje něco jako autorská práva na starověké umělecké památky? Na konkrétní části kulturního dědictví lidstva?

Nejsem právník. Tady v Evropě se říká, že USA jsou pro právníky zemí zaslíbenou. Nečte tento článek nějaký právník? Ale právníci se asi realizují někde jinde než v Úlu. A vůbec, předpokládám, že anglosaské právo je jiné než kontinentální.

A co tohle? Pamětní medaile u příležitosti prezidentské přísahy Donalda Trumpa. Myslíte si, že Donald Trump souhlasil s použitím své podobizny na této medaili? Že USA souhlasily s použitím prezidentské pečeti? Trochu o obojím pochybuji.

Ancient states probably died out without a successor. But even extinct states have successors. Present-day Russia is the legal successor to the Soviet Union and therefore de jure at war with Japan, for example, because peace was not made in 1945.

The AOEs you shown above are coins.
As for whether Donald Trump agreed to the use of his likeness or the U.S. agreed to use the presidential seal, it's hard to say without more information. The use of the presidential seal is regulated by law, and unauthorized use can result in fines or imprisonment.
