I remember when Overwatch was one of the biggest launches of its time. I had a friend who gifted me the game, we're playing for countless hours and talking about how futile our lives are. He lives in the US now, and since then, we outlived its downfall, and eventual replacement.

This isn't entirely on the same grounds as OV even, it's a third-person hero based multiplayer game. In fact, this plays more like Paladins from Hi-Rez. Is that a good thing? Well, Marvel Rivals does a number of things greater than its counterpart. For one, actually appealing towards the mass by giving us the best character designs. Certainly there was no agenda.

Other is their try at bringing fast-paced class based gameplay, just nailing the part where it's supposed to be fun. 33 rosters of various characters with abilities both derivative and unique, but also seemingly provide so much verticality and playstyles.

The first thing you'll see is a tutorial mode, teaching the basics of combat and movement, but yeah, anything like objectives, using ultimate? Some of it is pretty barebones. There's a practice range, thankfully for that, but a good number of people will play new to this.

What I can attest to, tho, is how the arenas can help with training from playing these heroes. There's a lot to do, and experimenting, finding out that majority of them have various use in the battle. Their classes are divided between Strategists, Vanguards, and Duelists. The third one has a lot of options to pick. Especially for team ups when you pick the right champs.

Major game modes you have are Convoy, Domination, and Convergence, and since this is a 6v6, it's important to keep a good number of duelists around, but yeah, if its modes like Domination, you can pick a killer combination of only duelists and tear the enemies apart.

Strategists are those who function in the distance and provide support. Like shields, healing, and damage boost while also clearing enemies only when they can. It's not exactly specific abilities, sometimes you'll use ones unique to the hero's characteristics and somehow blend between the three classes. This game is flexible enough to allow that even.

Take Groot for example, he does range attacks from short to medium distance, his walls when near enemies, provide extra damage, can block entrance and choke points even. This guy is a tank, and he can do both defense and offense so well. But it's highly situational, he throws a volley which gives AoE damage. Simply a combination of crowd controlling, and luring them into one point, you can get massive kill streaks. His ultimate entangles his enemies in one place for a while.

As for Spider-Man, his swinging ability makes him travel faster, although mostly on higher ceiling areas. All his attacks outside his secondary are melee based, he can die easy but also dish out heavy DPS. Then there's Black Widow who is, well, she's not that bad for a knock-off.

Punisher can both heavy DPS from distance, and also defensively take out enemies as a turret front. Magneto does range attacks, but he's a vanguard for being tanky, with friendly shielding, and slightly high DPS range attacks. Also, here's Starlord. Dude is a freaking Tracer clone, who can also levitate higher, with dodging, and a high damage AoE ability.

Believe me, you would think that's it, but there's more. Remember when I mentioned Paladins, which has similar game design to Overwatch, well that's kind of the thing. Hero based action games can be much further than that. There's a ton to do here, like seriously.

Yeah, map design is kind of lukewarm, especially when I played another different mode called Conquest. Small skirmishes where we just kill each other, and then collect coins. I've seen Duelists mostly go at each other, due to the fact that healing drops exist in corners. Really has little variety, outside aggressively taking each other out. But that's one separate mode.

Most part, they're doable. Providing many options to approach enemies. I do often times have trouble with Spider-Man, due to ah, some button schemes for wall running, which I've fumbled on many times. Again, that practice range can fix all this. Destructable environments also exist, like this is where I can open new pathways, as well as change fight scenarios.

But one of the biggest features of all, is Team Ups. These are mostly passives, but what amount to is if you have certain teammates involved, they add benefits to a number of heroes abilities. Venom makes Spider-Man and Peni Parker use the symbiote in part of their kit. There are many useful ones.

Also, have you seen the production value? Dear god, the women characters are HOT. HOT! Of course, Netease made this game, but they did a good job finding balance, while making promiscuous characters. Like, please, there's jiggle physics there. Plus, the ultra settings that I'm playing on really is pushing my GPU on 1440p, it does have Frame Generation and Upscaling.

Don't be fool by their difficulty rating and class either, this game is fast-paced with super flexibility for gameplay, anything can change, and I've seen it happen. Carrying potential is also there, but you have to be seriously good at your game to pull the hard parts, including clutches. Heck, even the cosmetics are well priced, this game is literally pushing OV2 off the cliff right now.

Sort:

I've heard a lot about this game, the truth is from the little I've seen it's not bad at all and it has pretty good gameplay

It's good fun, not at the AAA quality out there. But seriously should give it a try.
