A Valuable Lesson In Planning And Commitment.

Have you ever volunteered for an event or something without expecting to get paid for it? Well, I did, and I never regretted it because it was an amazing experience, and it taught me a very important and valuable lesson about what planning, commitment, and personal growth are.
So it all started when someone recommended me and my younger sister, Jessy, to an event that would be hosted at Unilag [University of Lagos], in Lagos. This event was happening just at the back of my school, and I thought, why not? So I joined the WhatsApp group for the event and quietly observed until everything was planned, so I watched how things unfolded speedily. I was so impressed. With the turn out of the things said there, so i decided to volunteer.

My work there was to help collect data from those who were attending, their names, age, name of business, what they hoped to get from the event, etc., and also before the events started, we were to call lists of numbers to confirm their attendance on the event day and also to ensure that they were properly registered. it was a very simple task to do, but it required attention and good communication skills. Yeah, all this were the experience i got from just helping out at that event. From this event i learnt what proper planning was, and also commitment , the way the staff handled everything and all were committed to it and thay all did their work in peace and effectively, i didnt hear any noise of dispute amongst this people, maybe they had but we that were volunteering never heard any issue, they were meticulous in their planning, which also showed in the smooth execution of the event, i saw how it was important to pay attention to details , to set clear goals, and in working together as a team, because truly one cant do it on his or her own, you need people to do big stuff.

Their commitment was top-notch; the organizers were so dedicated to making the event a success, and their passion was so real, not faked. Their commitment fueled others to even do more and better for the event.

But one thing I learned there was that volunteering isn't just about giving back; it is also about personal growth by stepping out of my own comfort zone and taking on new challenges. From here I discovered I had a hidden skill that I never thought I had; it showed me I had the confidence that I thought I never did have.

So if you are thinking of volunteering for an event or anything, I would say that you should go, because not only are you giving back to the community, but you are also investing in yourself as a person, and you gain new skills you never think you had, you gain connections from there, and also you surely will benefit from that in the long run. So yeah, take a leap, go get involved, and see the impact you can make.

You are truly right sis 🥰. When we volunteer to to give to the community or others, we are also doing it for ourselves because the measure we give is what comes back to us.

Enjoy your day 🥰💕🌺

Thanks for reading.
Enjoy urs too

You are welcome 💕

This is really nice, helping others without expecting anything in return always gives way to a bigger opportunity, this event boosts your self-confidence and connects you with people who can be of help as well. That is why it is good to carry everything we are doing out diligently.

Exactly , one should be dilligent in their doings.

That's so thoughtful of you, you and your sister did a great job. And you're right about volunteering isn't about just giving back but we building ourselves.
