Similar Strategies ♠ Different Aces

I have mentioned this several times, and all of you over time playing Splinterlands must already know that any small detail makes a total difference in determining who will be the winner in a match. In one of my matches today, I faced an opponent, and coincidentally, we created very similar strategies using several identical cards. However, some small details differentiated our objectives, so follow this post to understand these differences and which factors were decisive in determining the battle's winner.

Battle.

Let's start by observing the similarities between the two compositions. Because of the combo of rules Fog of War + What Doesn't Kill You + Explosive Weaponry both players decided to build a front line with high speed to take advantage of Enrage but also capable of avoiding magic attacks with the Phase ability. The choice of Tide Biter was obvious to prevent Blast from destroying the entire team with just the adjacent damage.

Almo Cambio is an excellent choice on this occasion because it meets the criteria mentioned earlier, but since it has no self-healing ability, it would also be necessary to add some supports with the Tank Heal ability to the team. We both chose Merdaali Guardian, but from here, our compositions differed.

In addition to having all the cards at the maximum level (which makes a big difference), the opponent opted for a more aggressive approach, choosing Merdhampir to eliminate any tank over time with the Cripple ability and Spirit Hoarder to prevent the death of his main DPS. This choice would have worked well if my tank did not have the Immunity ability, but having it rendered the opponent's offensive combo ineffective.

With his offensive strategy invalidated, there was nothing left to do but watch the match progress to round 20 and start taking Fatigue damage over the rounds. It was at this moment that my approach began to shine. Unlike my opponent, I opted for more defensive cards, choosing Albatross as a second source of Tank Heal and Gelatinous Cube as a secret weapon (Ace ♠) for moments where survival would be the main factor in securing victory. Fortunately, I made the correct choice as you will see next. Over the rounds, all the cards were eliminated until the enemy tank and my Ace remained in round 24.

Although Almo Cambio still had a lot of life, we all know it is difficult to compete in a survival contest against a card that has much more life and can heal 7 Life per round, so victory would easily be secured by Gelatinous Cube. This card has been one of my favorites because, despite not having any attack, its phenomenal ability combo creates a key card for numerous matches where you anticipate a long duration of the confrontation. Not to mention that now you can cover its only weakness by positioning a card with Weapons Training next to it.

These small differences make each Splinterlands match unique, and we cannot underestimate them. After all, each one can add knowledge that will eventually serve to improve our strategies and bring better results in future battles!

Batalha.

Felizmente fiz a escolha correta conforme verão a seguir.

It was quite a repetitive game, until the fatigue that settled the game. You both had similar tactics but you had the card with the better health

The battle was quite interesting, but doesn't the random shot apply with fog of war? Would it have made any difference if the random shot cards were used?
I'm still not clear on some parts of the game, so please forgive me if this is a silly question.
