Hello my wonderful people of hive, I feel so delighted to share my thought on Indiaunited Weekly Contest #12: “What is your Favorite Season?” my special gratitude also goes to @mysteriousroad for suggesting this topic.

Christmas is my best season of the year, though there may be other seasons that are exciting and fun but Christmas stands out as my favourite season. I am sure we all know what season is Christmas. Christmas is indeed the most wonderful time of the year, fun filled and full of surprises, it is a season of joy, love and celebration, when ever the year begins I keep waiting in anticipation for this glorious season.

One of the foremost reason why Christmas remains my favourite season of the year is because it reminds me of God’s unending love towards mankind by accepting to send his only beloved son to redeem the world.

There are some other remarkable things I do noticed during this season, whenever Christmas season gets close every thing changes, the atmosphere, the environment starts getting dry and everywhere gets dusty, the leaves on the trees get dry and brittle, every where becomes busy, people travel from their home town to their villages to spend the holiday while some people visit differs places to have fun.

The streets gets colourful and everywhere is decorated with the season’s colour which is red, green and white. Christmas carols like Silent night, Long time ago in Bethlehem, Love came down at Christmas etc are being played and sung at every nook and cranny of the environment.

Santa clause and Christmas tree are displayed everywhere in the street, people get excited and have fun, the least thing like the street light is always replaced with a green and red light signifying Christmas season.

In my area, different kinds of cultural displays, carnivals and street parties also takes place, the masquerade of different kinds, (ekpo ntukeyin, ekpe ) and all others are always around to signify the festive season.

Christmas is the time of togetherness, during this season my siblings and I would go on a vacation to see Granny at the village or we could go to our uncles and aunties houses to celebrate the season, most times, our friends and relatives come around and we all enjoy the season. It is indeed a season of merriment, we give out and also receive gifts from people.

Each time we visit the family house, everyone both far and near come around and
we all gather around the dining table to eat. Later at night we light knock out and do all kinds of fireworks, when the adorable moon comes out so bright and every where gets illuminated, we do lots of moonlight plays, tell stories. Granny would always tell us folk tales which we get to learn so much from all the ancient times stories.

I do have so much memories, as my friends and distant cousins are always around to share and gist me on what the all experienced all through the months, make jokes, we laugh, we catch cruise and play so many games, like hide and seek, ayo game, ludo and all others.

Another aspect of Christmas season that I deeply adore is the food, everywhere is filled with delicious aroma of food oh my goodness! Assorted kinds of delicacies (turkey, fried rice, stew, salad, chicken) etc are always prepared and we get to eat and drink so much.

This season is also a season of giving, we show kindness and generosity to those around us, it encourages us to spread joy and love. The gifts no matter how small it may be fills our heart with joy reminding us of the true meaning of the season.

In all, Christmas season holds a special place in my heart and will always remain my best season of the year. I can’t wait to celebrate this Christmas, I’m sure it will be so spectacular.
