Understanding "Reverse Speed" Ruleset in Splinterlands - Newbie Special

in #hive-13323last month

In a world where many are in a hurry, speed is considered an advantage, however, there are exceptions to this as many have hurriedly reached their destinations unprepared for the realities and opportunities there.

The "Reverse Speed" battle ruleset in Splinterlands game changes the typical speed and attack order dynamics. When this ruleset is active, the attack order is reversed. This means that monster units with lower speed will attack first, and those with higher speed will attack last. This is the opposite of the standard rules where faster monsters attack first.

In this ruleset, monsters with typically low-speed stats become more valuable as they get to strike first. Conversely, high-speed monsters lose their usual advantage. Making headway with this ruleset demands a strategic choice of monsters. Players may field slower, typically more powerful or durable monsters to maximize the advantage of attacking first.

With the "reverse speed" ruleset in place, certain abilities related to speed, such as "Slow" (which decreases enemy speed) and "Swiftness" (which increases allies' speed), may need to be used differently. Abilities that typically hinder high-speed monsters may now be less useful or need to be re-evaluated.

Drawing this battle with the reverse speed made me rather nervous because the manna cap was just 16 it was the second time I drew this ruleset. I could not wrap my head around the best of cards, I just decided to settle for basic fire cards summoned by Tarsa (4). I fielded only two monster units, Living Lava (7), and Tenyii Striker (5). The essence was to maximize my attack capabilities since Tarsa adds +1 Health and +1 Melee attack to friendly monsters.

The reverse speed ruleset encourages players to rethink their strategies and consider the value of monsters that are usually seen as too slow in standard gameplay.
