Prelude
Welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern where I look at how I crossed over from playing in Wild Battles till today on Modern Battles, sharing with the community the struggles, the strategies and things I do to move towards playing in Modern. With Rebellion Soul Bound reward cards coming live, it is interesting that I do not see as much of them currently on the battle field as of yet. My guess is many are still in the midst of accumulating Glint and opening the chest and getting copies of the cards and levelling them up. Let's look into some of these cards that had been released.
Rebellion Soul Bound Reward Cards
It is interesting that not many of the Rebellion Soul Bound reward cards have take the stage. I am not sure why, was it because it doesn't fit into current lineup or they are not as good as the Chaos Legion ones or everyone simply just accumulating Glint for the time being before doing a big pull.
I will start off by looking at the common reward cards for Fire Splinter for today's post.
Drybone Hobgoblin
First up is the Drybone Hobgoblin. With it being a 4 mana card, this will be a card to qualify for Little League. Not only does it qualify for Little League, it is also a good candidate for Noxious Fumes. I think this is not too bad a card to be added when playing these ruleset. However, if not having these rulesets, I would rather play other cards in place of this and there are cards that are of battle stats and abilities if there is no Little League or Noxious Fumes. Stat line wise this card will only become slightly better when it goes higher level.
Chaos Evoker
Next up is Chaos Evoker. Interesting card here, personally I feel it is more versatile than the Exploding Rats. Exploding Rats is a high speed attack card that needs to be placed right in front unless there are other ruleset that enable attack from middle of backline, that card itself had a low health and easily killed. While here on Chaos Evoker, I am very keen on it because it is a magic attacker and magic attacker unless on weak magic is not easy to handle. What is more scary is the fact that there is Ambush ability when this card becomes level 5. A head start to attack for a magic attacker is always welcome and with the blast, you might even net yourself a free gift. This card also comes with armour which gives it more sustainability and health wise scales up with level which is really good. At max level, it even gains a dodge, a good card with complimentary abilities is good.
Assessment
Based on looking at the cards themselves, personally I am expecting to see more instances of Chaos Evoker than Drybone Hobgoblin in view of the abilities and the utility of the card. However, never underestimate the usefulness of Drybone Hobgoblin as this will form a dynamic duo with The Forgotten One and tide through all the poison before finishing you up.
Wrap Up
With this large amount of new cards being injected into the game, I am expecting some changes that we will need to adapt to. Hence this is why I start looking into these cards and hope that they can do me some good when I start pulling these cards and inserting them into my collection. So let's continue to study these card and see how they can better integrate to our collection.
Let's continue to grow and find path in modern as we journey on playing Splinterlands.
