Prelude
Good day to all, how are all of you doing? For those whom are like me, how it your adaptation into modern league? Are you able to get some wins out or have been a victim of the high levelled cards you opponent possess. Difficulty definitely increased but time to time we will still be able to get some wins.
In today's post, I will be sharing on one of the recent matchup where lineup is able to overcome a lineup that is way stronger than mine where cards are generally way more levelled that what I have. It is often rather intimidating when we meet someone with almost a completely levelled up lineup where there is so much stat and ability advantage over us.
Since I came into modern ranked battle, I have encountered many occasion competing against such fully levelled up deck and most of the time, the advantage is so huge that it is like an instant lose for me, but there are times where what I have is sufficient to take them out. So today sharing is one of the few occasion that we overcome the odds.

Selection Analysis
A high mana match that I can place big heavyweights especially that I am intending to use Water Splinter. Baakjira is selected to be the tank for my lineup and it brought about abilities that helped to boost the team and also a debuff applied on opponent. Kulu Mastermind gives Weapons Training onto Baakjira while itself is a high attacking opportunity card. Oshannus and Nerissa serve as the bigger damage hitters for me on the magic front, while River Hellondale key here is resurrection for one card. Finally, I have another melee damage hitter in the form of Deeplurker which also has opportunity.
What my opponent had was a Level 8 General Sloan which is accompanied by a crazy Chaos Knight that had Giant Killer and even Inspire. A high level Djinn Renova whom has Triage on top of strengthen, a crazy Time Mage that has rust, a Uraeus that has poison and a Gargoya Lion with Void, not forgetting all the crazy stat boost that these cards come with. This is absolutely crazy as these cards are like the final form of what they are. The amount of advantage they have over my lineup is crazy, the abilities that they carry really buff them so much as compared to what I have.
From a simple analysis point of this, it looks like a mission impossible, but let's see how everything turns out as we look through the match.
Round by Round Synopsis
Round 1 - Look at the number of buff/debuff applied to my lineup, absolute madness. A crazy first round, that my side manage to take out Chaos Knight but Baakjira and Nerissa both injured with Nerissa getting poisoned as well by Uraeus.
Round 2 - While every looked like nothing much had happened, Baakjira did fall 1 time and being resurrected by River Hellondale. While Nerissa continues to handle the sneak attack from Uraeus.
Turn 3 - Things start to accelerate a little with many casualties seen this round. Baakjira and Nerissa fell from my side while opponent lost Djinn Renova, Time Mage and also Dumacke Orc. And suddenly no more buffs and debuff seen on the cards.
Turn 4 and 5 - It was one card per turn where turn 4 my lineup cleared up Uraeus and turn 5 Gargoya Lion was cleared up, give my lineup the victory over this crazy high levelled up lineup.
Battle Summary
When I first saw that I am facing a high level lineup, my first thought is that, this is gonna be another overpowered matchup where my lineup will just crumble. But to my surprise, the combination that I use manage to overcome the odds and bulldoze through my opponent with the big damage done by my assign big attackers. The various buff and debuff were important to help adjust the pace of the match and gain advantage. Really nice match and I am glad to have won it.
Wrap Up
The feeling of overcoming the odds when facing a high level opponent is really satisfying. It also gives me confidence that with the right placement and selection of cards, even being underlevelled, all is not lost and there is a change to overcome. I will continue to better myself and also seek to level up my cards so that my wins can be even more consistent.
