Craspedia - such an interesting plant and so difficult for me to grow. I have been trying to grow it from seed for 3 years and so far no luck. But this year I already succeeded.
My seedling grew and when it was strong and big enough I transferred it to an open bed in our garden.
I was looking forward to the first blooms because there were a lot of leaves in the beginning. But one by one the little yellow balls appeared and the joy was great.
At first small and low and gradually taller and well-shaped yellow balls.
The different names by which Craspedia is called are interesting - billy buttons, billy balls, and woollyheads.
They are native to Australia and New Zealand where they grow in a variety of habitats from sea level to the Alps.

Apart from enjoying them very much, I collect them and dry them, because they are wonderful decorative flowers that last a long time in a dry state.
