Health, they say, is wealth, and of a truth, it's because it's one of the luxuries money can't buy; it's one of the most important aspects of our lives we shouldn't joke with, because if you're to prioritize another aspect of life over it, you won't be able to enjoy that aspect well enough if your health is in jeopardy, be it education, career growth, or finance you're chasing. You must make out time between that to check up on your health so as to curb any existing or developing illness and reinstate your wellness. One of my resolutions for last year was to prioritize my health, and this year it's still on top of my list, and in this article I'll be telling you about the steps I'm taking regarding my well-being.
I understand many people might not want to agree with my first statement when I said money can buy good health, but then it's the truth: money can only contribute towards it, like giving you the ability to get the best health care, buy nutritious meals, and undergo necessary medical treatment, but it can't guarantee you good health, and that's why we, on our own, must take drastic steps to cater to our health at every given time, be it in our food consumption, exercise, or stress management; all of these contribute to making us maintain perfect health, and you should do them diligently if you love yourself.
Prior to this year, 2025, the last time I went to the hospital was November 25th, 2024, and then I went due to the fact that I had an appointment with the doctor scheduled for that very day. Aside from that, I also want to take a critical examination of my health and well-being. I remember I began last year battling with high blood pressure and liver-related illness, and given how much pain I went through to reinstate myself to a perfect state of health after all those early last year, I began to take all my doctors appointments seriously, and that's why I went that very day to check my blood sugar level, blood pressure, and the like, and after everything, the doctor wanted to give me another appointment for the next four months, but I told her I'd love for it to be sooner.
And so she gave me an appointment for Monday, January 27th; that was last week Monday, and it was the last time I went for a medical checkup, just one week ago. In fact, I was at the hospital when I published my entry for the Monday prompt onto the Hive Learners community, so what am I saying? All I'm saying is that for me to maintain good health, prioritize my health, and indulge in a routine medical checkup has become my thing, to the point where when the doctor wanted me to not come for the next four months, I convinced her to make it two months so I can monitor my health and not suffer any breakdown like I did in the previous year.
One of my resolutions for the next year is to not let two months go by without me visiting the hospital for a medical checkup, knowing my health challenges and how I used to take it with levity back then. I believe setting this goal would help me stay in check, and that's exactly what I've been doing. While at the hospital last Monday, I underwent blood sugar tests, cholesterol tests, blood pressure tests, body mass index, and weight checks, among others. It was an eye-opener that helped the doctor understand what's going on in my body system and guided me on what to do and not do to maintain perfect health.
Once I was done with the doctor, I even made an inquiry on where I could take various vaccines that would safeguard me from most of the widespread sicknesses and diseases we have around, such as the typhoid vaccine, hepatitis B vaccine, and influenza vaccine, among others, and I was guided on how to go about them. Some require me to first undergo some tests before the vaccine will be administered, and so I've done some of these tests and will be collecting the results when I next have an appointment so I can go for the vaccine and safeguard myself from widespread sickness and diseases.
So that's about it on my health and the steps taken to maintain perfect health. My next appointment with the doctor is in the first week of March, and I'm already looking forward to it, to indulge in an all-round medical checkup and as well take the vaccines I spoke about earlier. Thanks for your time; have a wonderful week ahead.
