Your guidance proved where life exists
and where it has been destroyed!
Like a proverb you are living in me
which I repeat time and again,
or just like the women of the village
sow the seeds while humming songs in the morning
or sing folk songs while threshing paddy,
you have entered me in the same way
according to each day!
And when I hide in my skin at night
as if I have covered myself with your cover
and am safe
Then I search for myself inside myself, you come suddenly
like the sound of the watchman and the noise of the crickets in the silence of the night!
Someone burnt my skin
when I, the wish-fulfilling one,
was in my true colors with you,
I was deprived of my caste and status!
Now I need your recognition
so that I can get my life back, and on your guidance
I can grow a new skin which will identify me
and bring back the colour in me
which I live in when I am hidden from the world!
