Hiking in Budapest – Prince Buda and Princess Pest Sculpture (Photo gallery)

in #hive-16377212 days ago

Was sagt ihr dazu? Wart ihr schon mal in Budapest? Was habt ihr besichtigt?

Prince Buda and Princess Pest Sculpture, Budapest

The Prince Buda and Princess Pest monument is located in the western Buda part of Budapest.

Foggy view of the Buda Castle

Continued the hike to the Citadelle, which was under construction but also told an interesting story about corruption.

Destruction (Citadel)

From the early 2000s until the site went into state ownership in 2014, murky companies with criminal ties operated facilities such as a discotheque, a hostel, and a nightclub in the fortress. Even though the Citadel had been a World Heritage site since 1987, the fort and the surrounding area lapsed into a state of unworthy disgrace. The wounds caused by time and lack of responsible ownership can no longer wait to be healed.

Nothing but ruins and rubble remind us of the previous functions, 2020

The sculptures depict the tragic tale of two lovers divided by the Danube river, Prince Buda and Princess Pest. Worth a visit.

I was in Budapest last weekend and took a short hike to the citadel on Gellert Hill and discovered this cool sculpture.

Incidentally, the citadel is currently being renovated and the entire area around it was cordoned off.

On the way there, I discovered this cool viewing platform with the Prince Buda and the Princess Pest statue, but the view wasn't so good as it was rather foggy on that day.

The monument represents the two historic cities of Buda and Pest, although I always get the parts mixed up. The two city parts are separated by the Danube.

The part east of the Danube is called Buda and the part west of the Danube is called Pest, where Pest is pronounced like [pesht], which means “cave”. Incidentally, the monument is located in the Buda part of Budapest. Just like the Buda Castle, which I visited afterwards.

Incidentally, Gellert Hill is quite easy to reach by bus from the city center. I took line 110 to the “Sanc utca” station.

I set a personal step record that day, walking a total of 28K steps, about 20 km according to the Health app.

What do you think? Have you ever been to Budapest? What did you visit?

Budapest is a city I'm looking forward to visiting. I hope it'll be soon.

That sculpture and its history are beautiful. In the month of February I will be visiting Budaspet from Margarita Island, Venezuela, along with a children's chess team that will later compete in a chess event in Siberia. I hope that when we return we can spend a few days in Budaspet and see the sculpture in person.

seeing the statue that looks like in the Barbie and Ben movie. Very stunning.

I'm definitely looking forward to the day I can participate in this hike, not just for the physical challenge, but also for the opportunity for personal growth and connection with nature.

Very beautiful monument, I would love to see it in person. Feels very powerful.

I have never been to Budapest but it's nice to see all the history.

It's a historical thing, reminiscent of the king and queen.

I love the sculpture of the two lovers
Will I be able to read their story online and what will the headline be?

in the Statue of the King and the Princess after seeing very clearly how people have touched the hand and the crown very intensively over the years. It is a very beautiful statue and it could also be considered a representation in search of happiness. It is something so simple and at the same time so difficult to obtain happiness.😍😍😍😍😍
