Which fireworks are allowed in Vienna during New Year's Eve? Short answer: almost none, only class F1 are allowed for plebs.

Was sagt ihr dazu?

Yesterday it was actually too foggy (smog) to see the fireworks. An I wasn't high enough either. But I had the feeling that fewer fireworks were set off this time. Maybe because of the fog/smog or because of the ban?

What fireworks are you actually allowed to set off as a private individual in Vienna? The short answer is almost none.

In Austria, fireworks are divided into four classes F1 to F4, whereby you even need a pyrotechnics certificate for classes F3 and F4.

Class F1 is actually the only thing you are allowed to set off on New Year's Eve if you are at least 12 years old and do not endanger people or property.

This includes, for example, sparklers, firecrackers, firecrackers and “table fireworks” with a low noise level and low explosive power.

Class F2 and higher (Swiss firecrackers, firecrackers, battery fireworks) are banned in Vienna all year round. On New Year's Eve, the mayor would have to grant an exemption, but as far as I know this was not done.

Nevertheless, I think that fireworks of the category F2 are occasionally set off.

For category F3 (e.g. larger firecrackers) and F4 (e.g. firework bombs) you have to be at least 18 years old and need a certificate of competence or expertise. However, these categories would not be permitted for private individuals in Vienna anyway.

I think that larger fireworks are set off by organizations that have applied for a special permit beforehand or that some people do not comply with the regulations on New Year's Eve.

Actually, it's not easy to find out what you are or aren't allowed to set off on New Year's Eve.

What do you think? What are the rules where you live? Do you think fireworks should generally be banned on New Year's Eve or should there be an exception on New Year's Eve?

We should all be free to use fireworks for 1 day out of 365!

On Halloween, a permit is required to light fireworks in my town. User must be over 18 years of age, low hazard fireworks can be lit only on private property with the owners permission. No Roman Candles, etc. etc.

I got an Ideal, ban all high hazard fireworks in the Ukraine and the whole middle east indirectly stop the war.

haha, good idea :)

Gutes, neues Jahr.

wahrscheinlich eh das Beste, was man machen kann, Prosit Neujahr :)

Fireworks are dangerous, so there are many rules to follow. It's surprising that certificates are required to do fireworks here.

Same with our country, there are only a few types of fireworks allowed. But i believe we are allowed more than the F1.

Frohes Neues Jahr! 🎉🙌🏻 Hoffe du bist gut reingekommen.

fireworks is part of our tradition but sometimes it is getting out of hand and it causes air pollution. it is better if there are only few who are allowed to set a fireworks like, government, malls and big establishment. people can watch from a far.

We're not allowed to have any in Australia

Wtf

yup, although lots of illegal fireworks each year

xD

I don’t know if there are types of fireworks but there is one common one that people make use of here

Why are some fireworks not allowed?
Highly explosive?

I think it's common for that in the cities. They have regulations and I think they can only do F1, but it might be possible that it is F2.
