Es gibt immer noch Flaschen mit nicht verbundenem Deckel in UK, aber es gibt einen Hacken.
Während es in UK völlig legal ist, Flaschen mit nicht verbundenem Deckel zu verkaufen, stellen immer mehr Firmen wie Coca-Cola auch in UK die Produktion auf "tethered caps" um, was nicht alle Briten "amusing" finden.
Ich bezweifle stark, dass die tethered caps irgendeinen messbaren Unterschied für die Umwelt machen. Plastik lässt sich generell nicht gut recyclen, und das Problem sind weniger die Deckel, sondern dass man überhaupt Plastikflaschen und viele Produkte aus Plastik (zb Kleidung) herstellt.
Mikroplastik gelangt in Österreich auch über den Biomüll in die Natur. Menschen entsorgen in Österreich tonnenweise Plastik in Biomüll-Containern.
Weltweit gelangt Plastik in Meere, da einige Länder ihren Müll nach wie vor in Flüssen entsorgen. Daran ändern verbundene Verschlüsse in Europa gar nichts.

There are still untethered cap bottles in the UK, but there's a catch.
While it is perfectly legal in the UK to sell untethered bottles, more and more companies like Coca-Cola are switching to tethered caps in the UK, which not all Brits find “amusing”.
I very much doubt that tethered caps make any measurable difference to the environment. Plastic is generally not easy to recycle, and the problem is not so much the caps, but the fact that plastic bottles and many products (e.g. clothing) are made from plastic in the first place.
In Austria, microplastics also end up in nature via organic waste. People in Austria dispose of tons of plastic in organic waste containers.
Plastic ends up in the oceans worldwide, as some countries continue to dispose of their waste in rivers. Tethered caps in Europe do nothing to change this.
