Nothing is a WASTE

I have come to realize that most times nothing is a waste. When I was little, my mom would always say to me and my siblings that wasting things is a sin. Some people can still use things that you claim to be a waste. Most things you see as nothing and not important could be extremely important to someone else. That is what I got to realize when I became a minimalist, I was able to learn that nothing is a waste. You could turn something which you do not use again into something more useful.

As a student, I had to furnish my kitchen, but then I didn’t want to do too much. When I told my friend that I needed a few things for my kitchen, such as containers for putting my spices which include maggi, salt, pepper, and also curry. She suggested I place an order for containers like that. She gave me the contact of a young lady who sells things like that. When I made inquiries about the price of these things, it was quite expensive and I knew I had to look for another way because I could use the money for something more important.

I called my mom and told her about it, and that was when she told me I could make use of plastic containers that once had candies in them. She was going to dispose of them, but then I told her, they would be helpful to me at this moment. I went home, picked up the containers, washed and cleaned them, and then put my salt and Maggi into it. I honestly feel like this was a good save for me as a student.

When I pitched the idea to my friend who wanted me to also buy from a vendor, she saw it as a good idea and decided to do the same. Most times it is good to make do with what you have.

Also, when I became a minimalist, I got to realize that purchasing thrift isn’t a terrible idea. Before now, I would always look down on it, but then realizing that I do not have an extreme fashion sense, I could always purchase simple clothes. The first time a friend took me with her for thrift shopping, I realized that the clothes were of good quality and not as bad as people would always denote to me.

Being a minimalist has taught me that, instead of spending recklessly I could always go for things that align with my finances and also help me not to waste. It keeps me mindful and I get to realize that there’s uniqueness in this line of fashion. I have been able to switch my fashion sense. Before now immediately if a clothe is slightly bad, I would look for a way to either turn it into a rag or throw it away. But right now, I try to make sure I make the best out of it, either by doing some DIY practices or mending it.

Like I would say as a minimalist nothing is a waste. Even if we try to declutter our spaces it is good we find some good in most things to save cost and use the money for something more important.
