The word “Art” means different things to different people and to me, it means absolute bliss. This is why I get very intrigued whenever I come across an art piece. For a very long time, I assumed art only involved paint brushes and a canvas but I've come to realize that there are numerous forms of art.
I get very bemused whenever I come across any form of artwork and all I want to do in that moment is decipher the meaning and at the same time appreciate every little detail.
Over the last few months, I've found myself around very many artworks and all I do is admire them and take a picture afterwards for memory's sake. The time spent admiring and interpreting these artworks usually feels really peaceful. It feels like the world comes to a standstill and the only thing moving are my eyeballs. Always a moment of pure joy.
Today, I'd be sharing a few of the art paintings from my gallery as well as brief insights as to what I think the art paintings mean.
First, one of the abstract pieces of art I recently came across. A few years ago, I had a conversation with a Hiver who is an ardent abstract art lover and we bonded over our love for art in general. The Hiver shared one of his pieces with me and that shared piece was the very first thing that came to mind when I came across this particular piece of art. The similarity is very very striking.
If one looks closely, they could see a lizard and on an even closer look, one may notice a crooked pathway paved in between molten lava but that is the beautiful thing about abstract art, it usually doesn't have a pin point interpretation.
Second piece just feels and looks like a combination of colours and glitters. For a moment, I thought it depicted the sunset when the skies turn golden and really alluring.
A similar piece of art would be this extremely shimmering one. Between this and the previous piece, which do you think depicts the sunset better?
The third piece looks like an exact depiction of the bustling city of Lagos, Nigeria. The yellow buses, the roadside traders, the hawkers, the passersby and even the story buildings all come together to tell a tale of a certain place.
I like how simple and straightforward this particular painting is. One may think, what is so straightforward about a painting of a bustling city? I would say the clear cut depiction.
The final piece of painting I would share today is that of a lady smoking. The amusing part of this particular piece is the fact that it was placed close to a no smoking sign. Hypocrisy much?
I stared at this painting for a few minutes and besides the smoking lady is another figure. A figure I tried to decipher but to join avail. The figure could be another human or even a random piece of thick clothing, who knows?
The time spent on each and every one of these paintings were really peaceful times for me. Trying to pinpoint the details of the artworks with fellow art enthusiasts around was an equally thrilling experience.
