Around The World: #34/5 | Eivissa | ESP / ENG

in #hive-18443715 days ago

This photograph was taken with an analogue camera, one of those that used to have a thing called film and then had to be taken to the lab to be developed. I also used a tripod, as it was taken at sunset, the hour that in photography is called ‘blue hour’, because there is still a little light left in the sky, and it does not come out black. That red line that crosses the image is none other than the rear light of a small motorbike that passed by while the camera shutter was open, I think I remember about 5 seconds.

It is taken in the parade ground of the old town of Eivissa (Ibiza in Spanish). This part of the city and its walled enclosure are declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The parade ground is the main entrance to the old town, part Moorish, part medieval and part Renaissance. After much discussion, it was decided to close this area to traffic, which has made it the quietest and most comfortable part of the city to live in.
